The son of Richard GRANTHAM and Lydia Jane BARLOW. At the time of the 1900 Rankin County, Mississippi census, he lived next door to a younger Jo??? Grantham, presumably his eldest son.
Said to have died but there is contradictory information about the date of his death. The Louisiana Statewide death index lists a John Grantham, died 21 Jan 1934 in Sabine Parish, at the age of 86 (therefore born ca 1848). Certificate #0-908 Volume 3. The FindAGrave listing for J G Grantham instead shows his dates as 1847-1933. He is linked to daughter, Bama Grantham Martin, and is listed as a son of Richard Grantham III and Lydia Jane Barlow. His is buried at the Zions Rest Cemetery in De Soto Parish.

His Will was probated on 28 Jan 1867 in Anderson County, Texas. A copy of the probate records can be found on Ancestry.com, Case Number 26, Item 223-343. Giles died without a will. When he died, he had debts, and the only property owned was a portion of lot No. 2 in Block No. 13 in Palestine, on the west side of the public square, along with the stone house situated thereon, occupied by Dr. Gothin. It was noted that Giles did not have a surviving wife. His son, Payton S. Note that the two Graves children were born prior to the date listed for the marriage of James Graves to Emaline Elliott. The oldest, Elvidia, would have been born was only 15. Born to him during a prior marriage? Younger sisters?
Shwon, on unsourced trees, as born in either York County or Hanover County, VA. FindAGrave indicates she was born to Henry White Graves and Mary Williams, as one of eight known children. She married John Christmas, and they had eleven known children.
It appears likely that Sarah Graves was a daughter of or closely related to Thomas Graves, descended from Samuel Graves of Lynn, MA. Thomas was born 16 Dec. 1686 in Lynn, MA, moved from Lynn to Reading,. MA as early as 1724, and moved to Southboro, MA in 1738. His son, Joseph Graves, b. 1717, m (1) Mary Newton in 1745, and m (2) Lydia Newton in 1758. Perhaps Sarah was a daughter not previously listed.
