It appears he had married a daughter of Richard and Lillie Davis prior to 1920, and been shortly thereafter widowed. At the time of the 1920 census, he was a boarder in their home, listed as son-in-law, and also as widowed. His younger sister, Velma, was also a boarder in that same home. There is a death certificate on file for his first wife, viewable online at FamilySearch.org, Texas Deaths, 1890-1976. She was shown as Mrs. Otis E. Fullen, born Oct. 20, 1898 died October 29, 1918 from bronchopneumonia due to the Influenza epidemic sweeping the world. Her parents were shown as R. D. Davis of Alabama and Miss Fortenberry of Mississippi.

On the 1870 Sabine County transcription by Blanche Toole, he is again listed as P.N. FULLER, in household 624/624. Again, on the actual microfilm, the accurate spelling of the name is not clear.

Most sources show his middle name as Lawrence, which was his father's first name, but some instead show his middle name as Louis.
Francis Simmons shows that Robert married Kathryn Eloise Wilkins, and that they were the parents of Larry, Don, and Austin Fullen.
Ameth Carmicheal ALSO lists this marriage:
iii. Effie COOPER (daughter of John Cooper and Anna Pounds) was born 1894 in Arkansas. She married Robert Lawrence (Bob) FULLEN, son of Lawrence "Lon" Allen FULLEN and Margarete Elvina MCNAUGHTEN. He was born 1904 in Milam, Sabine County, Texas.
Effie's older sisters, Jeanett "Nettie" Cooper and Julia Bay Cooper, married Fullen brothers. Their husbands were both sons of James Fullen and Katherine Elizabeth Parker. Robert was a first cousin, once removed, of their husband's. Francis Simmons, however, does not note this marriage.
Cheryl Fullen, the wife of Robert's son Don Wheelan Fullen, writes that "Robert was married 4-5 times..Effie was one wife" but that Kathryn Wilkins was her mother-in-law, and the mother of Robert's three sons, Larry, Don (her husband) and Austin.
In the 1976 obituary of her brother, Rev. A. H. Fullen, she was listed as Mrs. Ruby Kraner of Hemphill.
According to the Social Security Death Index, her last place of residence was Shreveport, Louisiana.
In her weekly Sabine County Reporter column, "On the Bright Side", Mary Howell wrote that she remembered Pep and Ruby Paudert. "Pep made mattresses and operated the Hemphill Mattress Company. Ruby was the first Avon lady in Sabine County. " (Page 4, July 18, 2007)

His birth information, as shown in the scan of BIRTHS recorded in the Fullen bible, was as follows:
Troy 1929
Don and Amy Fullen had a copy of his "Delayed Birth Registration" on their website. On this delayed birth registration, filed by affidavit by his sister Elsie Pearl Millsap, Troy's location of birth was given as Como, Hopkins County, Texas.
His headstone, pictured in Ameth's book, simply reads Troy Lee Fullen 1929-1968.
Tiffany Layman writes on website that: "Troy died January 20, 1968 six months after a tragic car accident that occurred on his way home from Colorado to visit his sick wife Virginia in the hospital. He is buried in Restland Memorial, Mesquite Texas next to his wife, and not far from his wife's mother Frances Bradley Bending and her second husband Joe Carruthers."

On his Texas Death Certificate, viewable online at FamilySearch.org, Texas Deaths, 1890-1976, his usual occupation was listed as Supervisor, Cafeteria. He was in the Villa Marie Nursing Home, presumably being cared for after the car accident that left him in a coma. The informant on the certificate was his wife, Mrs. Virginia Fullen.
At the time of the 1920 census, she was boarding in the Davis home in Beaumont, Texas, along with her brother Otis.
Her father's obituary from 1947 referred to her as Mrs. Charles ADKINS of El Paso...with the earlier obituary of her brother, Ferman Fullen, instead listing her as Mrs. Charles ATKINS, again of El Paso.

On her Texas Death Certificate, viewable online at FamilySearch.org, Texas Deaths, 1890-1976, her parents, Walter Fullen and Esther Robinson are both shown as of Newton County, Texas.
On his Texas Death Certificate, viewable online at FamilySearch.org, Texas Deaths, 1890-1976, he is shown as an Insurance Agent, and married to a Muriel. The informant is shown as Hesta Fullen, probably his daughter Hester? It is noted, in error, that both of his parents, William Fullen and Elizabeth Allen, were born in Tennessee.
Washington and his wife and daughter were living with his parents at the time of the 1910 Sabine County census. They had been married 5 years, and were the parents of one child, still living.
William lived next door to his parents at the time of the 1900 Sabine County Census. He had been married to Minnie for seven years at the time of the census, and it appears their first two sons, Ashley and Sidney had already died.

William enlisted in Co F, 11th Texas Regiment CSA under Col. Roberts and Cpt. Silbey on 17 February 1862. He was discharged on 3 August 1862, cause not stated. According to Robert Cecil McDaniel's book CITIZEN SOLDIERS OF SABINE COUNTY, TEXAS, he was wounded at war. His younger brother John served with him in the same unit.
Around 1868, William and John married sisters, Margaret and Jane Allen. Neither family can be located on the 1870 Sabine County census. It is possible they were simply missed in this first census in the aftermath of the Civil War. At the time of the 1880 census, William & Elizabeth and John & Jane lived in adjoining homes. Listed in William's home was 60 year old Celie Payne, a servant born in Georgia. Could she have been a former slave of Elizabeth Allen's step-Grandmother, Jane Payne Allen?
William's confederate pension application listed his occupation as Carpenter. On census records, he was reported as a farmer.
His younger children, Lena, Ginnie, and Washington Fullen are all shown on the Sabine County 1890 Scholastic census. The very youngest, eight year old Britton, remained at home.
In 1900, sons William and Lawrence lived on either side of their parent's home. Washington and Britton were still at home. According to the 1910 census, William and Margaret had been married for 42 years, and had a total of 6 children, 5 of whom were still living.
On some census records, his middle initial was shown as "R." However, according to his tombstone, his middle name was Morrison.
In 1924 he served as a witness to the confederate pension application for Susannah Halbert Mason, along with witnesse W W Halbert. Both signed with their marks.

Birth information, as shown in the scan of BIRTHS recorded in the Fullen bible, was as follows:
William 1877
The UNIONS section of the bible further shows:
William and Jennie 1900
In her online tree, Amy Fullen had originally cited William as being married to a Jennie L. Lofton.
However, in an update to her tree, she showed this child as Willie Drucella Fullen, with a marriage in 1909 to J. L. Lofton, and date of death as 1968 in Lufkin.
It is therefore not clear if Willie is Male or Female. His/her obituary and/or death certificate might clear this up. Please email if you know more about Willie/William.
His Texas Death Certificate, viewable online at FamilySearch.org, Texas Deaths, 1890-1976, showed his usual occupation as Dragline Operator. He was shown as Married, and the informant was an S. A. Fullen.
His birth information, as shown in the scan of BIRTHS recorded in the Fullen bible, was as follows:
Willoughby 1873
His burial information, as shown in the scan of BURIALS recorded in the Fullen bible, was as follows:
Willoughby May 12th 1896 Aged thirteen years 2 days
Could it be possible that the information relating to his death is not correct? Sharon Leamon descends from a Willoughby Simon Fullen, born May 10 1871. On his 1933 death certificate his dad is listed as Jim Fuller (Fullen) and his mother as a Parker, with no first name shown. Both his parents were shown as being born in Texas.
So could this Willoughby actually be Sharon Leamon's ancestor, living into his sixties instead of dying at age 13?
Or perhaps James Fullen and Catherine Parker had two sons that both used Willoughby as part of their name, with one of them dying young?
Sharon Leamon writes that Willoughby Simon Fullen was born on May, 10 1871. On his death certificate his dad is listed as Jim Fuller (Fullen) and his mother as a Parker with no first name. It also lists as both of them being born in Texas.
His actual death certificate shows his date of birth as October 5, 1871, with no location being shown. He is shown on the Death Certificate simply as W. S. Fullen. The 1900 Census also shows his Month and year of birth as Oct. 1871. Census enumerations show his place of birth alternately as Louisiana, Alabama, Texas and Mississippi.
Willoughby died as a result of an auto accident outside of Bowie, Texas on September 26, 1933.
It is noted that the name and date of birth of Sharon's great grandfather are close to this entry from a scan of Catherine Parker Fullen's family bible, which is owned by Don and Amy Fullen. Catherine Parker was married to James Fullen.
Willoughby 1873
His burial information, however, as shown in the scan of BURIALS recorded in Catherine Parker Fullen's bible, was as follows:
Willoughby May 12th 1896 Aged thirteen years 2 days
Could it be the information about two seperate sons of James and Catherine have been somewhat confused over the years?
Why would they have two living sons named Willoughby however? Why is the older Willoughby seemingly not listed?
Sheri Burk, in a post to a genealogy blog at www.bebo.com, instead speculates that Willoughby Simon Fullen is a son of Willoby Aserie Fullen by his third wife. She did not have positive documentation of this, however.

In her weekly Sabine County Reporter column, "On the Bright Side", Mary Howell wrote that she remembered Alonzo and Emma Fuller. "Mrs. Emma was a school teacher and she influenced the lives of hundreds of Hemphill students. Alonzo was a carpenter and he built several homes in the Hemphill area including the one hundred and nine year old house that I live in now." (Page 4, July 18, 2007).
The following information was extracted from his obituary: "Lonzo Fuller died at 9 am December 20, 1967 in St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont, where he had been for three weeks. He was a lifelong resident of Sabine County and a member of a pioneer family in this region. He was a retired building contractor. He was survived by his (second) wife, Jeannette Wright Fuller, his daughter Mrs. Lexie Smith of Akron, Ohio, his granddaughter, two brothers Joe and Hermann Fuller both of the Rosevine Community, four sisters Mrs. Nina McLemore of San Augustine, Mrs. Ethly (sic) Eddings of Rosevine, Mrs. Bertha Fuller (sic) of Conroe and Mrs. Tera Coussons (sic) of Carthage. His funeral services were held 2:30 pm Thursday, December 21 in the First Baptist Church in Hemphill. The Reverend Clarence Howell, pastor of the First Baptist Church in Boling, Texas, and the Rev. Tommy Long, pastor of the Newton Church of God, officiated. He was buried in Hemphill cemetery under the direction of Starr Funeral Home. Pallbearers were Leon Adickes, Lon Wright, Oscar Pate, Dan Prado, Joe Howard and Louis McDonald."
According to "A Pictorial History of Sabine County, Texas", Mrs. Alonzo Fuller was a fifth grade teacher at Hemphill in 1941. Per William Kent Anderson, she was a graduate of Stephen F. Austin University. This book instead shows Lonzo's name as Lonzo Alcony Fuller. On one census for Sabine County, he was shown as "Lawrence A" instead of Alonzo. This Federal Census also had the number "2" in the column for U-C Vet. Army/Navy.
On May 13, 1913 Andy Arrington Fuller Tex. b. 06-11-1882 d 09-21-1950 and Minnie Maysel Boyett Tex. b. 03-28-1893 d. 09-25-1975 were united in marriage at Merryville, Beauregard Parish, Louisiana. The groom had been a resident of Merryville since the early 1900s and at that time was partners with Walter Smith in a small cafe. He had worked in a mercantile store since coming to Merryville and had worked on the construction of the railroad bridge over Sabine River. Having saved his money to finance his own business he sent for the young Kirbyville, Texas girl who had promised to be his bride. She arrive on the Santa Fe at Hall City on the day they were wed. Arrie and Minnie, as they were known to their friends, started housekeeping in a couple of rooms rented from the bride's aunt, Mrs. Babe (Walter) Powell, situated just behind the present City Hall in Merryville.
Both were born in Newton County, Texas. The Fuller family were early settlers in Texas, having come there by wagon in the mid 1850s from Alabama. They were merchants and farmers by trade and one brother was an innkeeper. George Washington Fuller (Ala. 09-28-1855) and Ursula Catherine P. Hardy (Tx. 05-05-1860) were Arrie's parents.
The Boyetts came to Texas in the early 1860s from Alabama. Mr. Boyett was a blacksmith by trade, but also logged down the Sabine River to Orange, Texas. John Wesley Boyett (Ala. 02-12-1856) and Henrietta Jones (Ga. 07-13-1863) were Minnie's parents.
Both families were large in number and hard workers. They were talented musicians and home parties with playing, singing, and dancing were their ideas of good times.
Through the years, Arrie and Minnie were known for their generosity and hospitality. They worked hard for the betterment of Merryville, the school and their church. Both were talented musicians and music was one of the highlights of their home life.
He owned and operated an electrical power station, ice house, two farms and was co-owner and operator of the Merryville Cotton Gin. He acquired much land, several rent houses and was co-owner of Fuller Construction Company with a cousin Leaky Mays of Jasper, Texas. He served as Mayor of Merryville and at the time of his death on Saturday 21, 1950 he was Sales Tax Collector for the state.
Minnie carried on his tradition to the best of her ability for many years. She joined him in death on September 25, 1975. Both were members of the Methodist Church. He was a W.O.W. and a charter member of the Lions Club of Merryville. She was a charter member the Delphian Club, Merryville Chapter, and a honorary member of the Future Farmers of America, Merryville High School Chapter. She was also active in the WMS of the Methodist Church.
To this couple two children were born, Cahterine Henrietta (Feb 4, 1917) and Elizabeth Lucille (Nov 23, 1921). Both girls were born in Merryville, attended Merryville schools and graduated in the years 1933 and 1939 respectively. Catherine was married to Leonard Hawley Stark (born in Merryville Dec 15, 1911) and to this union were born Andy Leonard Stark (La., Sept 25, 1938); Catherine Joanne Stark (La, May 18, 1943) and Mance Mason Stark (La., June 10, 1944).
Lucille was married to James Ingia Humble (born Caldwell Parish, LA October 30, 1915) and to this union were born Amanda Lucille Humble (La, May 24, 1947); Jordan Fuller Humble (La, June 24, 1946); Merry Catherine Humble (La, Aug 14, 1947); Ingia Anne Humble (Tex, Aug 8, 1950) and Debra Renee Humble (Tex., July 23, 1954).
At this writing, September 1985, both girls and their families are living.
By Catherine F. Stark
According to the 1900 census, Arrie was a Mail Rider. On the 1910 census, he was listed as a checker at a mill. In 1910, he was a boarder with the Jesse H. Lee family and still single.

Brenda Fuller Webb, 28, of Rosevine died February 17 at Trinity Mother Frances Hospital in Tyler. Funeral services were held Sunday, Feb. 20, 2000 at Starr Funeral Home in Hemphill with burial at Rosevine Cemetery. A native of Rosevine, she was a beautician. Survivors include her husband, John Webb of Rosevine; parents, David and June Fuller of Rosevine; brother Jamey Fuller of Rosevine; sister, Susan Hendrix of Rosevine; and grandparents, Fay and Tom House of Springhill.
Although Brooks was said to have died of tuberculosis, he might actually have died in the great Spanish influenza epidemic of 1918. The disease maneuvered its way into the United States by soldiers, nurses and volunteers, viral carriers returning home from contagious flu infested combat zones. On October 31, 1918, the headlines in neighboring Jasper County, Texas read, "Flu Epidemic Raging the Globe--Over 20 Million Deaths Expected--Anti Influenza Vaccines Fail." The epidemic peaked in East Texas during the icy winter of 1918. (Source: Dony Harrison, Jasper NewsBoy January 20, 1999). No death certificate is on file for Brooks or his brother Price, who both died as young men.
His Texas Death Certificate, viewable online at FamilySearch.org, Texas Deaths, 1890-1976, showed him as the son of Charlie A. Fuller and Ellan McClendon. The informant was Mrs. Inez Fuller. His usual occupation was shown as Rancher, and he was a resident of San Augustine at the time of his death.

In her weekly Sabine County Reporter column, "On the Bright Side", Mary Howell wrote that she remembered "Clyde and Annie (???) Fuller, who owned and operated a barber and beauty shop on the Hemphill square. Inside the beauty shop was an old fashioned curling apparatus resembling a metal octopus which was used to give permanent waves to ladies. The Fuller home property was located where the modern Ashley Furniture HomeStore now stands. (Transcribed by Melinda McLemore Strong, January 2010)
A nearly identical obituary was published in the Januiary 28 issue of the San Augustine Tribune.
Rev. Floyd Wright officiated at his memorial service.
According to the Family Bible kept by Lillian Chance Fuller, Donley Fuller's middle name was Emboden. As he did not read or write, he probably assumed tht Emboden started with an "M." His delayed birth certificate lists his name as Donley M. Fuller, and his son Charlie Fuller remembers that his father signed all documents that way. (Per notes of Linda Fuller, Cleveland, Texas.)
His Texas Death Certificate, viewable online at FamilySearch.org, Texas Deaths, 1890-1976, showed him as a son of Charlie Fuller and Ella McClendon. His occupation was retired farmer. The informant was Mr. Hollie Fuller (Son). He was listed as Don M. (Only) Fuller.
His Texas Death Certificate, viewable online at FamilySearch.org, Texas Deaths, 1890-1976, showed him as a son of Charlie Fuller and Ella McClenton. His usual occupation was listed as Carpenter. The informant was Mrs. Edna Fuller, wife. The description of his cause of death indicates that "he was run over by truck, deceased walking on wrong side of road in early A.M. fog on the Highway in Rosevine." He actually died to an "instant" cerebral concussion and hemorrhage in the nearby San Augustine hospital.
His Texas Death Certificate, viewable online at FamilySearch.org, Texas Deaths, 1890-1976, showed him as a son of Charley Fuller and Ella McClenton. His occupation was retired farmer. The informant was Mrs. Lewis McDonald, a daughter.
Melinda McLemore remembers visiting her Grandaunt, the widowed Ethel Eddings, when she was a young girl. Even something as ordinary as taking a walk with her grandmother Nina and Aunt Ethel became an exciting adventure. Ethel carried her shotgun with her, constantly on the lookout for those "polecats (skunks) and armadillos" that wreaked havoc on her gardens.

Linda Fuller of Cleveland, Texas shared the following email that she received from John Beattie Fuller with me:
"I understand your interest in connecting James Anderson FULLER directly to the Ezekiel FULLER, Isle of Wight Co VA, family line. I have not been able to yet establish his father's identity. From the data that we do have we can make some guesses about John Anderson. We do know that he married Fanny BAILEY on 28 Dec 1818 in Warren Co GA. In that Warren county lies in the eastern part of GA and very near Columbia, Richmond, and Wilkes Cos. we do know the FULLER families that first settled in these GA Cos. There is not only one New England FULLER family. One of whom was John Fuller, son of Ezekiel, as well as John FULLER, Jr. Grandson of Ezekiel, along with a couple of other sons of John Sr. One proven and one not proven. So we can say that probably James Anderson was either from the New England line of Elijah or VA line of Ezekiel with some degree of probability.
In that most of the FULLER's identified in Meriwether Co GA were from Ezekiel's line by 1850 while Elijah's line went to Greene Co GA and then on to Perry Co AL. one could assume that James Anderson must have been of Ezekiel's line for that apparently is where he died in 1853. I would guess the reason for the Warren Co GA marriage is based upon Fanny BAILEY's home of residence at the time and that James Anderson resided in one of the adjoining GA counties.
Something else that is quite interesting to note within James Anderson's family line. That is, a son named William Alexander FULLER. Not an altogether odd given name, but this is exactly the same given name that appears in John FULLER, son of Ezekiel, family line. Oh by he way, in the event that you do not already know, Ezekiel's son, John srved during the Amer Rev while he was over 60 years of age and his on, John Jr. also served in the Amer Rev. John Sr. lived to be 106 and his son Jr. over 98 years old.
Overlooking John Fuller Sr. for the moment, let's look at John Jr's Sheet. I see he has a son James born about 1795 in Columbia ? GA who married a Nancy BAILEY in GA about 1820. These dates, I must add, are based upon each's possible age and it is for that reason we have the "ca" noted. The seventh child of this family is a William Alexander FULLER b. 17 Feb 1810 Columbia Co GA, who would be a younger brother to James.
Now looking at James Anderson FULLER's FGS I have him born in 1790 (data from census no doubt) in Warren Co ? GA (because of marriage data no doubt). His marriage to Fanny BAILEY 28 Dec 1818 in Warren Co GA is a matter of record. His second child is a William Alexander Fuller born 1826 Meriwether Co GA. Could he have named his son after his own younger brother? I think so. Within his notes I see that he was living in Dekalb Co GA at the time of his 1827 GA Land Lottery entry. Interestingly, John FULLER Jr. was also within the same area where he remained. Why did James Anderson leave the area where his father's family resided? Because of James' Meriwether Co GA land lottery? It was not soley because he had so many FULLER relatives there later, for some of them had not yet arrived in that GA county from SC."
He goes on to state that although he has no proof, he strongly suspects that James Anderson FULLER's father was John Fuller Jr., grandson of Ezekiel FULLER of Isle of Wight Co. VA.

Owner of the Hemphill Drug Company, which was underneath the Medical offices of Dr. W.T. Arnold, and next to the Fuller Barber shop, both cousins. In an article dated January 1, 1997 from the SABINE COUNTY REPORTER about the grand opening of Hemphill Drug Company by it's new owners, it is noted that this grand opening included "Leon and Pansy Adickes, also former owners of Hemphill Drug, which was founded in 1912 by Tom (sic) Fuller, father of Mrs. Adickes."
In his 2002 book, THE MYSTERY OF LADY BOUNTIFUL, Bob Bowman writes that a $5,000 bond was posted for Lillian Knox, accuses of murdering her husband, timber magnate Hiram Knox. The bond was singed by five Hemphill men, including Dr. Tom ARNOLD, a witness for the prosecution. The other four were E. P PADGETT, a lawyer; J.P. (sic) FULLER, who owned a drug store; L.E. PRATT, a merchant; and John W. MINTON, attorney for the Knox family. Another press report listed S.R. Williams as surety. (Bowman, p. 105).
In her weekly Sabine County Reporter column, "On the Bright Side", Mary Howell wrote that she remembered Jim Fuller, "the original owner of the Hemphill Drug Store which was located on the west side of the Hemphill square."
His Texas Death Certificate, viewable online at FamilySearch.org, Texas Deaths, 1890-1976, shows that he was the son of John Sydney Fuller and Lelee Meadow. The informant was his wife, Mrs. Rubye Fuller. His occupation was listed as Pharmacist at the Simpson Drug Company.
