At the time of the 1930 Federal Census, his mother and four of his nieces and nephews (children of his deceased sister Theodocia), were living with him.
Pam Boyer shows him as married to Eualie Pate, and that they were the parents of Cecil Virginia and Betty Jane Easley. If Pam is correct, it appears that he married sometime very soon after the 1930 census, and no wife are children are listed on either the 1920 or 1930 census. As his date of death is shown by Pam as 1936, his children would have been very young at the time of his death.

Ernest ran for Mayor of San Augustine in 1995. He was defeated by Gertrude Lane, the first African American Mayor of that city.
The following paid political advertisement ran in the San Augustine Tribune prior to the election. (13 April 1995):
Some of you have asked "Who is Ernest Easley?" As of April 1, 1995 I have been a resident of San Augustine for eight years. During these eight years, I have been a volunteer worker with Care and Share serving as an interviewer and as president for the past two years.
Having 40 years of business experience and commited to a strong future of San Augustine, I will do my best to represent you as Mayor. My office will be open to you......
Since there are some of you I still do not know, I would like to take this opportunity to tell you something about myself. I was born March 2, 1927 in Hemphill and attended school in Hemphill, Yellowpine (two room school house), and Dallas. After graduation, I served almost two years in the U.S. Army - twelve months of this time in Italy.
After receiving an honorable discharge from the Army, I secured a position with a national finance corporation where I was employed for over 38 years; having worked in Houston, Beaumont, Harlingen, San Antonio, and Dallas. For several years I managed their bank in Dallas.
After retiring and selecting San Augustine as my new home, I cam out of retirement and was elected vice-president/manager of the First National Bank Branch in Broaddus where I served until April, 1989.
I have been married to the former Billie Sue SMITH of Center for 44 years. We have a daughter Patti Easley BOSWELL of DeSoto, Texas and a son Dr. Ernest Lee EASLEY of Odessa, Texas. Also, grandsons and two granddaughters.
After becoming a resident of San Augustine, I joined the First Baptist Church and became active in community affairs. For the past two years, I have served as your City Councilman, Place No. 1. I have served as Chairman of the Leadership Committee and Director of the Economic Development Council. Recently, I was elected Director of Tri-County Community Action, Inc. In my church I have served as church treasurer for seven years, Director of Adult 4 Sunday School Department, served as a member of the Pastor Search Committee, and a member of the Building Committee for our Christian Activities building.
In the December 19, 2002 San Augustine Tribune, p 15, an article was written updating friends on his health. He had been diagnosed with Acute Myleogenous Leukemia in January, and spent 29 days in Chemotherapy at M.D. Anderson, but had not gone into remission. His son, Earnest (sic) Lee Easley, had been pastor of Roswell Street Baptist Church in Marietta, Georgia since February. Daughter Patti, and her husband Charles, had been in Hartsville, South Carolina where he was the pastor of the Lakeview Baptist Church.
His obituary (following) was in the March 7, 2007 Sabine County Reporter. A similar obituary was published in the March 8, 2007 issue of the San Augustine Tribune.

Polly was born in Yellowpine, Texas on September 21, 1923. She graduated Hemphill High School in 1941, one year after her marriage (Joe signed her report card her senior year). They spent their early years in Houston and Deer Park, Texas, where Polly was a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker, as well as a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Deer Park, where she taught Sunday school for several years. She had several part time jobs, but always found time for her favorite hobbies, such as keeping an immaculate yard and growing beautiful flowers (She and Joe won "Yard of the Month" many times).
Other activities involved sewing, crocheting, needle point, and she was a prolific quilter. Her retirement years were spent in Nacogdoches, Texas, where she and her husband were also active in the First Baptist Church. She and Joe moved to Highland Village in 2000 and they became members of the First Baptist Church of Flower Mound. Polly was a fabulous cook and her made-from-scratch biscuits were renowned. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren knew her as "Granna" and "Great Granna," and she treasured each one, as they did her. A celebration of Polly's life will be held at the church of her childhood, Macedonia Baptist Church in Yellowpine, at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 12, 2013. Nephew-in-law Dr. James Warner will conduct Polly's funeral service and interment beside her husband will be at nearby Yellowpine Cemetery. Wilbern was quite good at playing 42 and even won 4th place in a 42 tournament at the Nacogdoches Blueberry Festival once. While he usually let his wife handle the kitchen, he delighted in making his delicious peanut brittle for family gatherings. Wilbern loved and supported his children in all of their endeavors and was a perfect granddaddy and great granddaddy. Family was the most important thing of all to Wilbern, next to his faith in The Lord. He spent many fond times hunting with his family in the woods surrounding Six Mile Creek in Yellowpine, where he was raised.
