Dean Carmer notes she married Elmer ALLOWAY, and that they were the parents of Marie who married a HAMMOND, Susanna who married a SMITH, Anna Margaret who married a PRESSWOOD, and James.
Dean Cramer shows that she married Franz Schaffer, and that they were the parents of six daughters, Christina Anna (b. 1820), Mary Magdalena (b. 1824), Elizabeth and Margretha (twins, b. 1827 at both buried at Saint Jacobs Cemetery in York, PA), Rachel (b. 1829) and Catherina (b. 1831). Chuck Winter and Clarence Cramer both show her spouse as Francis Shaffer, an anglicized version of the name. Edith Beard Cannon's 1843 genealogy of the Cramer family, references a legal document referring to her as Margaret SHAFER (p. 67). Clarence Cramer writes that they lived in the vicinity of of Shaffer's Church in York County.
Rosalie Sommer, however, shows she married Thomas Tayler, most probably in error.
Anna M. Hare, 90, of York, died Wednesday evening at York Lutheran Home. She was the wife of the late William M. Hare.
The service will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Eckhardt Funeral Chapel, Manchester, Md. Burial will be in New Lutheran Cemetery, Manchester, Md.
Mrs. Hare was born in Glenville. She was the daughter of the late Chester and Ellen (Runk) Cramer.
Mrs. Hare is survived by a son, Dr. William Hare, Port Charlotte, Fla.; two daughters, Betty Jane Wright, Keysville, Va.; and Elvia Utz, Lineboro, Md.; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Lora Myers, Hanover.
Arlene Elizabeth Cramer Garrett, 91, of Manchester, died Saturday, Dec. 15, 2012, at Long View Nursing Home in Manchester.
Born Nov. 10, 1921, on her family farm off Wolfgang School Road, near Glenville, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Edward Cramer and Lydia Sotdorus Cramer. She was the wife of her childhood sweetheart H. Gordon Garrett, her husband of 59 years, who died Dec. 3, 2003.
She was a 1940 graduate of Codorus Township High School and studied for her nursing degree at Maryland General Hospital.
She was a registered nurse and had worked at Hanover General Hospital and at Long View Nursing Home. Furthermore, she retired from Black and Decker as their on-staff register nurse, where she had 31 years of service. After retiring she went to work for Dr. Thomas Kenney as his receptionist, and continued to help Kathleen Twigg, owner, at the nursing home and at her residence.
She was a member of Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church. In her spare time, she enjoyed the outdoors, particularly mowing her grass and working with her flowers. She would sell sweet corn and turnips from the front of her farm, which is located on Route 30, where she and her husband were known as "The Turnip People". She enjoyed spending time with her furry friends, especially her pet cat.
Dean Cramer writes that she died on 2 Jun 1952, and is buried at the Quickels Cemetery in Mt. Zion, PA. He also shows that she was marired to Jesse L. STOVER, and that they were the parents of Jessie, Mary, Beatric and Margaret.
Dean Cramer shows that he was twice married, to Gladys HARRIS and then to Ruby Odle LEHMANN. Find a Grave only links him to one spouse, Ruby Belle ODLE (1904-1982), and also lists two daughters, Ruth E. Cramer (1925-1928) and Billie Lee Cramer (1939-1939).
Dean Cramer listed his date of death as 11 July 1943.
John Cramer shared the following newsclipping:
Lt. Carroll W. Cramer
Second Lieutenant Carroll W. Cramer, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Cramer, Glen Rock, who was reported missing in action since Aug. 11, 1943, was declared deat by the War department Jan. 12, according to a letter received by his parents.
The letter stated in part, "that nine Liberators had make (sic) a bombing mission over Paramushira Strait ans when his plane was last seen, two Japanexe planes were flying toward it. There has been no news concerning Lt. Cramer of any of the crew since that time."
Besides his parents, he is survived by his wife, Mrs. Cathering Burmana Cramer, Santa Maria, Calif.' two sisters, Mrs. Helen Shaffer and Mrs. Beulah Forry, Glen Rock; RD; two step-sisters, Mrs. Mary Bosserman, Haddonfield, N.J.; Mrs. Ida HAMM, Hanover, and a step-brother, Henry Cooper, Long Island, N.Y.
A memorial service will be held Sunday at the Stone church at 1:30 p.m. Rev. K. S. Ehrhart, pastor, will conduct the services. Lt. Cramer was a member of that congregation.
Clarence Cramer shows that her baptismal sponsors were Johann and Elisabestha Neudig, her maternal grandparents. He also states that "she evidently lived a few years of more, and was probably buried in an unmarked grave at the Stone Church." Unlike more contemporary family researchers, he does not reference a marriage between Catharina and Jacob Werner.

Clarence Cramer indicates that his baptismal sponsors were Christian and Christine RUHLMAN. He said that after his marriage, Christian and Catharina lived near the Stone Church. He moved to Fostoria, Ohio, in 1837. (p. 57).
Dean Cramer writes that he lived on Uncle Daniel's farm next to Helfer. Moved to farm in Fostoria, Ohio. Dean thinks that Christian's 9 children were probably born in Fostoria, and lived mostly in Indiana. The source for most of Christian's descendants was Louis Haley

A Daniel Kramer is referenced in the book "Pennsylvania German Pioneers" by Strassburger/Hinke (Gen Publishing Co, Baltimore, MD, 1966) Vol I, p 488. A lookup volunteer from the York Co, PA genweb page reported the following: "List 183C, ship "Richard and Mary," John Moore, Master and last from Portsmouth. Foreigners who took the usual qualifications 26 Sept 1752 included Daniel Cramer among 88 others (males age 16 and over). No (X) by his name so apparently he signed his own name."
Also referenced, relationships currently unknown, are Johnannes Peter Kramer Vol 1 p 353,354, and Louise and Philip Cramer Vol II, p 59. Louise and Philip Cramer were passengers aboard the ship COLUMBIA William Maley, Master, from PA Sept 17, 1793.
According to Bob Givens, A Johan Helffer Cramer & Lorentz Cramer arrived on ship Phoenix on 1 Oct 1754 & he believes these are Daniel's brothers. Keith Dull's book EARLY GERMAN SETTLERS OF YORK COUNTY, PA revised edition 1997 agrees with the relationship of Daniel, Helfer and Lorentz. Clarence E. Cramer notes this relationship as well, stating the Helfer's "uncles (were) Johann Helffrich and Lorentz CRAMER, and that he had a "probable-uncle, John KRAHMER (p. 52).
Daniel was on the 1762 tax list; was warranted 109.126 acres in Codurus Township on 14 Oct 1768, and his will was probated on 7 March 1780 (source DULL, p 43-44)
Edith Beard Cannon, in "Genealogical Reports for The Historical Society of York County, Vol. XXIX, p. 52, Evidence of the Cramer Families of York before the year 1850 REVISED" published 1943, cited the following deed (2R, 422) April 15, 1805. Helfrich Kromer of Codorus Township, yeoman, and Sophia his wife: to George WERNER; for (Pounds) 49.10.0: 8 acres, 140 perches, part of tract of 109 acres 126 perches surveyed ) October 14, 1768, to Daniel Kromer in pursuance of an application for 100 acres dated September 13, 1768, now the property of the said Helfrick Kromer as it appears by release of his brother Daniel Kromer bearing date Aug. 29, 1782, given to his brother Philip Kromer with Christina his wife conveyed the same to Helfrick on April 9, 1791. On page 72, Mrs. Cannon indicates that a John CREAMER, owing allegiance to the King of Bavaria, was naturilzed on August 4, 1844; and that Andrew CREMER, owing allegiance to the King of Wurtemberg, was naturilzed on April 20, 1858.
The book ABSTRACTS OF YORK COUNTY, PA WILLS 1749-1819 shows the following:
---,---. Mar 6, 1780. Cramer, Daniel. Executors Jacob Shares and Haefer Cramer (German Will).
---,---. Mar 7, 1780. Kramer, Daniel. Executors: Jacob Shaves and Halfor Kramer. (German Will).
(Index 1780 E-75).
Roger Cramer (RKCedar@aol.com) believes him to be a son of Johan Georg Kramer and Elisabeth Blaicher, who arrived in America on 3 December 1740 with their family aboard the ship "Robert and Alice". They were from Saulgau, Donaukreis, W?rttemberg, Germany.
However, Rosalie Sommer (rosaliesommer@comcast.net), shows different parents, listing him as a son of Johann Daniel Friedrich Cramer, husband of Anna Catharine Wilhelm of Rommelshausen, W?rttemberg, who emigrated on 26 Sept 1852 on the "Richard and Mary" to Philadelphia from Rotterdam. She shows that Daniel and Catharine has two sons born in Rommelshausen, and that Daniel married secoind Sofia PFEIL of Leutenbach, W?rttemberg, by whom he had six children, including Daniel Cramer, the husband of Anna Margareta Schmidt. In her tree, however, the Daniel Cramer born in Rommelshausen was shown as born ca 1743, and as his eldest son, Helfer, was born 1753, this seems unlikely.
Rosalie also indicates that an unrelated Cramer family, that of Hans Adam Cramer, of Rheinhessen, Hessen, had arrived in York County earlier aboard the ship "Pennsylvania" on 10 Sept 1731.
Rosalie Sommer's 2008 database, showing Daniel and his descendants, can be found here:
Per SENECA COUNTY, BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCHES, Loudon Township. p 893 "Daniel Cramer, retired, farmer, P.O. Fostoria, was born in York County, Pennsylvania. (He was) reared in his native county, and there received a very limited common school education. He came with his parents to this county in 1838, and was actively engaged in farming up to 1867, when he retired, and now resides with his brother William on the old homestead. He is the only member of the family who has adhered to the German Lutheran Church, of which his parents were life-long members. Politically he has ever been a Democrat."
At the time of both the 1880 and 1900 census, he is listed in the household of his brother youngest brother, William, as indicated in the above biography.
Chuck Winters shows he married a Caroline UNKNOWN, b. ca. 1822.

According the "History of Ionia and Montcalm Counties Michigan with Illustrations and Biographical Sketches of their Prominent Men and Pioneers" by John S. Schenck, Philadelphia, D.W. Ensign & Co. 1881, the first framed house in Odessa was built by Emory Russell after 1842. Other early settlers in and near the Russell neighborhood were Nelson Merrill, EMANUEL CRAMER, S.B. CHAPMAN, A.A. Haskins, A.J. Clark, P.S. Lapham, David Crapo, John D. Hight, Reuben Haight, George E. Kelly, James N. Galloway, and Asa Houghton (p. 315). It was further noted that Emanuel Cramer mustered out of the 21st From Ionia County, Michigan on June 8, 1865. The 21st was commanded by Col. Ambrose A. Stevens, Boston and Lieut.-Col. Morris B. Wells, Ionia. Col Stevens was released from service on Feb. 3, 1863 due to a disability. Lieut.-Col. Wells was killed at Chickamuaga on that same day. (pp. 74-75).
The "History of Ionia County, Michigan, her people, industries and...., Volume 2" by Elam E. Brach and EarlW. De La Vergne notes that he enlisted in Company A, Twenty-first regiment, Michigan Volunteer Infantry in August, 1862 and mustered out in June 1865 at the rank of corporal. This book also indicated that Emanuel Cramer was a carpenter and many of the buildings erected in the southern part of the county in pioneer days were built by him.

A 1901 biography of his nephew, posted online at the Ancestry.com Message Board for Huntington County, Indiana, notes that he took part in the late rebellion (Civil War), and "lost his life in Virginia."
The US Civil War Soldier Records and Profiles on Ancestry.com shows that he enlisted at the age of 30, as a private in Company B, Ohio 55th Infantry Regiment on 18 Sept 1861, and mustered out on 2 Mar 1862 at Grafton, West Virginia.
Dean Cramer shows that he never married.
Rosalie Sommer shows that he died 2 Mar 1862, rathering than mustering out. She also shows that he married Susan STEINER prior to the war.
From the HISTORY OF VAN WERT COUNTY, OHIO AND REPRESENTATIVE CITIZENS, Thaddeus Stephens Gilliland, Editor
"Frank A. Cramer was nine years old when his parents came to Pleasnt township and settled on the farm which is located just outside the city limits of Van Wart. He remained on the family homestead until he was 21 years of age, and in the meantime acquired a good common-school education. He then passed several years away from home, traveling over about 14 States, working at various occupations and having many adventures; but when he found himself 1,000 miles from home, with only three cents in his pocket, he wisely decided to return to that safe harbor as soon as possible. he met witha ready and hearty welcome, and while not desiring to become a farmer, found this a fine and locality in which to learnt the carpenter's trade, and, for the past 12 years has been a leader at Van Wert in the building and contracting line. Prior to entering into business for himself, he worked for 13 years of one employer. About 1901 he built his own shop on Jackson street, whihc is a commodious establishment two stories in height, with dimensions of 48 by 50 feet. Mr. Cramer gives employment to from 12 to 15 ment, and has successfully carried through a number of very large contracts, at present erecting a $30,000 structure for the Central Manufacturers' Mutual Insurance Company, the finest building ever erected in the city.
In 1882 Mr. Cramer was married to Kate P. Harris, daughter of Elijah and Ann Harris, of this county, and they have two children-Hazel and Milo. He is the owner of a beautiful family residence at No. 314 North Jefferson street, which he built, and now occupies; has a half interest in three other dwellings; is administrator of his father's estate, and is comtemplating the platting of the old homestead farm.
Politically Mr. Cramer is a Republican. Fraternally he is a Mason and an Odd Fellow; religiously he is connected with the Methodist Episcopal Church and is one of the stewards.

HELFER CRAMER, a substancial and well-known farmer of LaGro Township, was born in York County, Penn., October 10, 1816, being the oldest son of Christian and Catharine (Wanner) Cramer, who were natives of Pennsylvania, but of German descent. Helfer received a fair education in the rude schoolhouse of early days, and at the age of nineteen years commenced learning a trade, which he followed in Darke County, Ohio, where he had located in 1839. In 1844, he came to Indiana, moving upon the site of his present home in 1850. Mr. C. has been twice married; his first wife was Maria Reniker, who survived her marriage about five years. The present Mrs. Cramer's maiden name was Christina Boomershine, a native of Darke County, Ohio. They are the parents of five children, viz:, Marry Ellen, Eliza Ann, David F., Charles H. and Margaret S. Mr. C. has spent a life of industry and usefulness, and is in possession of a handsome competence in his declining years.

Dean Cramer writes that Henry had 9 children, 8 by his first wife Eva, and one by his second wife Anna. His birth and death dates were obtained from his headstone at St. Jacob's.
FindAGrave shows that he was a lawyer, and also liked to write music.
Edith Beard Cannon notes, in "Genealogical Reports for The Historical Society of York County, Vol. XXIX, p. 49, Evidence of the Cramer Families of York before the year 1850 REVISED" published 1843, that Henry Cramer was the administrator of the estate of his mother, Sophia Cramer, of his brother Laurence/Lorentz, also in 1843; and of Elizabeth Cramer, relationship not known, of Codorus Township in 1847. Clarence E. Cramer writest that he also administered the estate of George Krebs on April 1, 1847. (page 60).

Dean Cramer writes that Louis Haley informed him that Homer (Bruno) Cramer was married 4 times: (1) Bertha Gillen, (2) ??? Beauchamp, (3) Ruby Odle Lehmann (also listed as second wife of Bert Cramer), and (4) Vera Ethel Miller Karr. FindAGrave links him to only one wife, Zera Bertha BEECHING (1896-1988). At the time of the 1930 census, he was residing with his parents as 471 N. Allen Street, Wabash, Single, and his occupation was Laborer, paper mill. In 1940, he was shown as divorced, and was at the Indiana State Farm in Putnam County.
Dean Cramer's notes show that he was a steel molder and carpenter, and that he died in a Hospital in Baltimor after being injured in a logging accident. He also shows him as being buried at Saint Davids Cemetery in Hanover, York County, PA. Was not able to verify this burial location on FindAGrave.

Said to have married first Anna Maria Koller and second Catherine Stump. Anna Maria died. In November 1850, Israel was enumerated in Eden Township, Seneca County, Ohio with the family of Jesse and Julian COLER....perhaps these were his former in-laws. He is not listed with a wife, so presumably Anna Maria died before the date, probably in or after June 1850 when their daughter Anna Maria Cramer died.
From FindAGrave:
Military Marker inscribed: Israil L. Cramer, First Lt Co B 57 Regt Ohio Inf, Civil War, December 22, 1900
Israel married Catherine Stump (b. 7 Aug 1831 in Little York, PA (sic), d. 9 Oct 1896 in Fostoria, Ohio) on 21 Mar 1854 in Little York, PA (??? or Ohio). It was a second marriage for both. Israel's first wife died in childbirth in Ohio. Israel had moved west to Fostoria, Ohio in the late 1840s, joined the 57th Ohio Volunteers when the unit was created in 1861. He mustered out in 1865 with only one furlough of a month in early 1864. Israel's unit saw action with Sherman's army in the Civil War. He served as a Quartermaster Sergeant before being promoted to Bugler First Lieutenant which is the rank he held when mustering out. After the war, Israel's occupation was a Carpenter in Fostoria according to the 1880 Census. The Danville Veteran's home documents state he had "gray eyes and fair hair."
