Mitochondrial haplogroup H is a predominantly European haplogroup that participated in a population expansion beginning approximately 20,000 years ago. Today, about 30% of all mitochondrial lineages in Europe are classified as haplogroup H. It is rather uniformly distributed throughout Europe suggesting a major role in the peopling of Europe, and descendant lineages of the original haplogroup H appear in the Near East as a result of migration. Future work will better resolve the distribution and historical characteristics of this haplogroup.

The 1885 Kansas State Census, for Olivet, Osage County, Kansas, shows that Loren C. and B A E?? Cowdrey were the heads of a household of eight people in total, which included a 12 year old daughter with the initials of O A Cowdrey. Loren was a farmer, and was born in Ohio with his wife being born in Indiana. This is likely Alice's family. A marriage record shows that Loren G. COWDRY married Barbary E FRIEND in Mar 1861 in Clinton County, Indiana. Also, Loren's widow, Barbary A E Cowdrey filed for a Civil War Pension in Missouri, based on the service of her husband for the 86 Indiana Infantry. Car Accident claims life of John Shannon "Shan" Cox
A one car accident claimed the life of a Sabine County man Sunday. According to a spokesman from the Department of Public Safety, Robert Hamilton, 21, Justin Conn, 21 and John Shannon Cox, 21 all of Milam, were traveling southbound on FM 1592 at 3:40 a.m. when the wreck occurred. The report indicates Hamilton was driving a 2013 Chevorlet Silverado pick-up truck at an unsafe speed, when he drove off the right side of the roadway. The report says he over-corrected turning to the right and skidded into a pipe fence post causing damage and turning the vehicle 180 degrees. The vehicle then flipped twice and came to rest in a pasture. John Shannon Cox was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. Robert Hamilton was treated and released from Sabine County Hospital. Justin Conn was not injured. No one was wearing a seat-belt. Sabine County Sheriff's Office stated no arrest were made in connection to the accident at this time and no citation was issued at the time of the accident. The accident was investigated by Department of Public Safety Trooper Michael Thomasan.

Her maiden name is assumed to be COX, and the widowed Mary Cox, age 66 and born in South Carolina was living with Ellen and her husband, James R. McLemore, at the time of the 1880 Jackson County, Alabama census. Additionally, a post to the Ancestry.com Message Boards>Surnames>McLemore>McLemore Family history cited the Cranford family bible as identifying her as Louise Ellen Cox.
FindAGrave shows her as a daughter of Marion Howard Coyle and Annie Wright Coyle. It also shows her date of birth, presumably in error, as 4 Jan 1926 in Buna. A photo of the tombstone was not shown, so the date that was engraved on it is not known with certainty. The Texas Birth Index lists this date of birth of Annie Myrl Cayel as 4 May 1926, and parents as Howard Cayle and Annie Wright. The SSDI aslo lists her birthdate as 4 May 1926. Her name on that was Annie Green.
Myrl McNaughten Green Franzke passed away at her residence in Buna.
Myrl, a registered nurse, who graduated from St. Mary School of Nursing, eventually received her BS degree in nursing education after attending Lamar University and Texas Women's University.
In 1968, Myrl served as president of the Port Arthur Heart Association and held positions with both the Texas Assoc. and Sabine Area Asso. of Industrial Nurses. Always willing to serve others, she volunteered her time and services to serve on the Advisory Council for the Port Arthur Adult Day Activity Center and RN Consultant for that facility. Later she became a volunteer Ombudsman for the Area Agency on Aging. As an RN, her work experience included Gulf Coast Health Care, Ameripol-Synpol, DuPont, St. Mary Hospital, Park Place Hospital, 12 Oaks Hospital, Hermann Hospital, Gulfport Shipbuilding and Texaco, Inc. One of her most memorable experiences was in working alongside Dr. Michael DeBakey as his surgical nurse.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Annie (Wright) Coyle her brother Milton Coyle and husbands Dr. Marion Green and Clifford Franzke, Jr.
Survivors include her daughter and sosn-in-law, Cheryl and Joe A. Valka; twin brother and sister-in-law, Irl and Margaret Coyle; sister, Joetta Erwin; sister and brother-in-law, Lois and Bill Robinette; five grandchildren, Valerie Cauthen and Larry; Joey Valka and Christy; Stephanie Garsea and Chris; Carrie Walker and Walter; and Christina Valka; nine great grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren.

"Dr. Strimple "Jim" Coyle and his wife Elna (sic) of Hemphill will attend (the annual meeting of the Sons of the Republic of Texas (SRT) held in Nacogdoches April 3 through 5, 1998). Dr. Coyle is a member of the Sabine District Chapter of the SRT."
There was a 92 page book titled "Oral History Interview with Strimple C. Coyle" by Strimple C. Coyle and Ronald E. Marcello. It was part of the Oral History Project, University of North Texas, and published in 1994. The subject of this book was and interview with Sergeant Major Strimple C. ("Jim") Coyle, a Marine Corps veteran, concerning his experiences Ewa Field with VMF-211 (Marine Fighter Squadron 211) during the Japanese attack at Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941.
From Find a Grave:
Marine Corps Sergeant Major (Retired), Jim Coyle died Saturday, May 2, 2009. He retired from the U.S. Marine Corps in 1970 after proudly serving his country for 31 years. He was cited for undaunted courage under direct enemy fire in the defense of Pearl Habor against the Japanese attacks of December 7, 1941. His personal decorations include the Bronze Star Medal with the "V" attached indicating Valor in combat. He also received the Combat Action Ribbon, two Presidentual Unit Citations, Navy Unit Citation, China Service Metal, Korean Service Metal, and the Asiatic Pacific Compaign Medal with seven combat stars.
The only survivor of Pearl Harbor in Sabine County, the 88-year-old veteran passed away at Lufkin Memorial Hospital at 8:00AM this morning.
A true patriot to the core, with a striking demeanor and military bearing, Coyle was active in the community, particularly in veteran's affairs, belonging to both the local VFW and American Legion posts. Jim as he is known by all who know and loved him, was a Past Commander of the Sabine County O.P. Pate Post #187 of the American Legion and a Life Member of Post #10351 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Marine Corps League, Guadaicanal Campaign Veterans and Korean War Veterans Association. In addition, Jim was a Life Member of the Sons of the Republic of Texas.
During Pearl Harbor Remembrance Ceremonies on December 7, 2008, Coyle recounted the day of the Japanese surprise attack on Pearl Harbor.
It was a horrible day for the then Corporal Coyle, who realizing the attack was occurring, ran back to his barracks to retrieve his Springfield rifle, a WWI relic, and began firing at the attacking Japanese planes, exposing himself to strafing by the enemy.
Dr Coyle, a native East Texan was born on July 31, 1920 in Buna Texas, and was a retired clinical psychologist. He was a resident of Hemphill for the past 15 years and a member of the First Baptist Church.
Funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday, May 5, 2009 at the First Baptist Church, Hemphill, TX at 1:00PM with the Reverend Aaron Pardue officiating. Burial will follow with full military honors at Newton City Cemetery, Newton Texas where he attended school and where his parents are buried.
Visitation will take place from 5:00PM until 9:00PM on Monday, May 4, 2009 at Starr Funeral Home, Hemphill TX.
