Mary Dorothy Dubose, 97, of Milam, Texas passed away on Friday, September 24, 2021 at Hemphill Care Center.
Dorothy was born on August 28, 1924 in Milam, Texas to Lacy Theron Browning and Biddie Orlean Halbert Browning.
Mary Dorothy, known as Dot-dee to many and as Grandmother to those blessed enough to call her theirs, was truly a one of a kind gem. Her relentless love was freely given to all. She had a special way of connecting with everyone she met, making you feel as though you were the most important person in her life. To be loved by her is truly one of the greatest blessings you could experience. Her love for missions ran deep as she passionately served with the mission service Corp and through the WMU in her local church for numerous years.
Grandmother's passion and ability to unconditionally love is undoubtedly rooted in her personal relationship with Christ, whom she trusted through all of life's trials, heartbreaks, and celebrations. Her life and legacy will forever be a beacon and testimony to the gospel of Christ. While she could be serious, our Grandmother was not without a silly side. Her quick-wit and quirky sense of humor could send you into a belly laugh at a moments notice. She was the essence of grace and beauty, and not just because you couldn't catch her without her rouged cheeks and red lipstick. Any that knew her are better because of it and we rejoice in the fulfillment of her faith as we know she is singing and praising in Heaven today.
She is survived by her sons, Daniel W. DuBose, Jr. and wife, Betty, of Houston and Perry B. DuBose and wife, Jane, of Sugar Land; daughters, Deborah Kindell and husband, Mark, of Baytown, Lydia DuBose of Milam, and Merri Tieman and husband, Michael, of Milam; sister, Nina Beth Proctor and husband, Boyd, of Leesburg; grandchildren, Paige DuBose, Lacy Wilson, Wade Greathouse, Paula Inman, Jen Lesak, Christian Greathouse, Travis Johns, Ryan Tieman, Price DuBose, and Elissa Jacobs; 14 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
Dorothy was preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband, Daniel Wade DuBose, Sr.
A visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Monday, September 27, 2021 at Starr Funeral Home in Hemphill, Texas.
Funeral services will began at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 28, 2021 at Starr Funeral Home Chapel in Hemphill, Texas with Bro. Michael Tieman and Jim Nethery officiating.
Burial will follow funeral services at Joel Halbert Cemetery in Milam, Texas under the direction of Starr Funeral Home with her grandsons serving as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bethany Baptist Church Renovation or Lottie Moon, P. O. Box 7, Milam, Texas 75959.
Condolences can be made and guest book may be signed online at starrfuneralhome.com.

She had an all-girl band that played for dances in the area. As an R.N. she served in various schools and the Veterans Hospital in Lincoln. (Milligan, p 212) After her retirement she was active in bowling. She died in 1976 at the home of her son in Davenport, Iowa. (Milligan, p 216).
Came to America in 1874 with his parents and three brothers and two sisters. They came directly to Saline County from New York, and settled on a farm three and one half miles north of Crete where they first lived in a Dugout. The Brt family was known as musical. The father played the "dudy," which resembles a bagpipe. Brother Frank played a bass horn and Vaclav played a Czech trumpet. They played for many weddings dances and social gatherings. Art Peck wrote that Arlee was a typist for Fidelity Bank, and became supervisor of the check printing department. She was transferred to their main branch in downtown Philadelphia, but quit when the commute became too much. She next worked as a secretary in the Personnel Department of the Delaware County Memorial Hospital. After going to night school to get her degree, she became the Director of Human Resources. She retired in 1983. She resumed her career after six months, working for a Dr. Kim, a neurosurgeon. She retired for good in September, 1989.
Mrs. Harvey was one of the cousins of BonnieMargaret Jacobs who searched their Bibles and records and picture collections to provide information for her 1981 manuscipt about the history of the Benkelman family.
Art Peck shows, in error, that he was born in Croswell, Sanilac County, Michigan. Census records show he was born in Nebraska ca 1896. His registration for the Draft during the First World War indicates his full name was Frederick Harold Brueggeman, and also show his place of birth as Nebraska. At the time he completed the registration, he was an unemployed Tool Maker living at 24 Trowbridge, Detroit, Michigan. He was of medium heighth and build, had light blue eyes and brown hair.

"Rev. J. E. Brunson
[Special to the Picayune]
Meridian, Miss., Sept. 18 - Rev. J. E. Brunson, of Toomsuba, died at his residence in that village last night, after a lingering illness of typhoid fever. He was one of the most prominent Baptist divines in this section of the state, having been in the ministry for more than one-third of a century, during which period he had zealously served some of the largest churches in Mississippi. He was a most excellent Christian gentleman, and his death at the close of a long and useful career will be deeply regretted in east Mississippi. The funeral services will be conducted to-morrow, and the interment will be in the village cemetery. Mr. Brunson leaves a wife and several children, all grown and well known residents of this county, to mourn his death."
