Melba Gene McLemore writes that William Pegram was married twice, and had two children by his first wife, Tilford and Lemyra. His son, Tilford, would later marry Margaret McLemore, the daughter of William's second wife, the widowed Martha "Patsy" Whitaker McLemore.
(Research):Could his name be William Louis Pegram? At the time of the 1920 Bell County, Texas census, the household immediately preceding that (on the bottom of the prior page) of Columbus Pegram was the home of 56 year old Louis/(Gervis?) W. Pegram, making his approximate date of birth 1863-1864. He was Male, White, born in Texas to parents born in Tennessee and Texas, and married to Mary J, his same age, born in Texas. His occupation was listed as Service, ???river.
Anastasie lived in New Orleans and married Francis HAAR. Only their youngest child, Cecelia, survived into adulthood; Anastasie as well as her two youngest children, Louis (14 months) and Madeline (2 months) died in 1884. Her widower remarried and was a dairy owner on Peters Avenue just 1 block from the home of Anastasie's sister, Blazine.
Bennie Zahn writes that in 1910 Bernard, a schoolteacher, was one of the few villagers in Benqu? that was able to speak, read and write fluent French. The majority of the inhabitants spoke in a patois, a southwestern lingo. He was married to Madeline CAZANAVE, and they were the parents of three children, who were farmers.
Blazine sailed from Bordeaux in September 1866 aboard the windjammer "Jupiter" and arrived in New Orleans 5 December 1866. The passenger list of 109 names listed her occupation as a "seamstress." She married Louis Roquevert and together they owned and operated a dairy on Peters Avenue at Long Street (now Jefferson Avenue at Freret). They had a summer home in Ocean Springs, Mississippi where Louis died in 1890. Nine of their 13 children lived to adulthood; 7 resided in or near New Orleans. (Bennie Jay Zahn).
In early 1901, George D. Bland (1853-1915), who managed the Beach Hotel at Ocean Springs...purchased the Louis Roquevert (1845-1890) place, an approximately eighteen-acre tract on Old Fort Bayou from New Orleanian, Blazine Penne Roquefort Barthe (1843-1916), the widow of Louis Roquevert. This was the former site of Bradford's Landing.(Jackson County, Ms. Land Deed Book 24, pp. 77-79) Here George D. Bland, established a truck farm and poultry business. The Roquevert place was located today in the vicinity of Bayou Cove and Ray Street east of Vermont in Section 19, T7S-R8W.
(Research):An mtDNA sample supplied a direct female descendant of Blazine (a child of Pat McGuire, the daughter of Josephine Morlas), was analyzed by FamilyTreeDNA in Houston. Their analysis showed the following Haplogroup assignment, along with the following differences from the Cambridge Reference Sequence.

The mitochondrial super-haplogroup U encompasses haplogroups U1-U7 and haplogroup K. Haplogroup K is found through Europe, and contains multiple closely related lineages indicating a recent population expansion. The origin of haplogroup K dates to approximately 16,000 years ago, and it has been suggested that individuals with this haplogroup took part in the pre-Neolithic expansion following the Last Glacial Maximum. William Hurst, on his Haplogroup K Website, writes that "Katrine," the founding mother of mitochondrial DNA haplogroup K, was one of the "Seven Daughters of Eve" as listed in the 2001 book of that title by Bryan Sykes. A lot of happened since 2001, but the book is still valuable.
Katrine lived about 16,000 years ago. Perhaps the oldest known K descendant was Oetzi the Iceman whose frozen body was discovered in the Alps in 1991. Estimated at 5000 years old, the Iceman proved to have the basic mutations for a K: 16224C and 16320C. Every K is a cousin of Oetzi.
Bennie Jay Zahn writes that Pierre's only sister, Genevieve, married Etienne DUPOEY. Apparently her descendants were still living as of 1911, as Pierre's son, Sylvain, wrote a letter stating that he had visited with his cousin Dupouey in Angos.
Schoolteacher and headmaster of a Junior High School. He retired at Izotges, near Plaisancs in 1911. He was the father of two sons, a school teacher and a baker.
Bennie Zahn writes that he arrived in New Orleans in December 1856, where he met and married Eulalie CLAVERIE on 10 September 1868, in St. Augustine Church. After moving to Erath, Louisiana, he became a prominent merchant, becoming a U.S. citizen in 1888. Of Jean and Lilli's 14 children, five moved back to and settled in New Orleans.
She married Jean BALIX, and in 1911, they resided in Galan. They had no children, and raised her younger half-brother, Olivier, after Pierre Pene died.
aBennie Zahn writes that she married Mathieu COURTADE in New Orleans in 1862; her brother Jean serving as witness. They operated a grocery store and coffee house in the 3rd District on Marias at Esplanade. Mathieu died eight months before their only daughter, Corinne, was born in 1867. Justine left New Orleans, possibly moving to Erath with her brother.
Raised by his Aunt, Jeanne-Marie Pene BALIX until the age of twelve, when he went to live with his Uncle Sylvain Pene. A teacher, he married Alice BONIN. He also operated a vineyard in the Village of Saillons, near Libourne.
Pierre's parents had only one son and one daughter.
Bennie Zahn writes that based on information from Adrian Lagleize (1905-1998), Pierre Pene (his great-great grandfather) "came from" a village called Montgaillard, which is nearby to Angos. Mr. Lagleize shawy that they found graves in a cemetery in Montgaillard marked with the Pene name. Bennie added that Pierre and his wife Marie Cecile were both teachers, and the six of their sons who lived to adulthood were school teachers.
Immigrated to Argentina. In 1915, Sylvain Pene wrote "of the family of Prudence, I never have any news." His Aunt Julie suspected he changed his name and moved to San Francisco. She also heard news of a Pene in Australia, a man of civil position, which might also have been where he settled.
Bennie Zahn shows him as a son of Pierre PENE and Marie COURADE, who married ca. 1710. She further indicates that he was born and married in Montgaillard, Gers, France.
A professor, he retired in 1907 to Bordeaux. He and his wife, Jeanne BECHELIER, had three sons. The oldest son, Pierre, was a captain of Commanders Squadron, C-10 Celebabaire; and died in aerial combat in World War I. Jean was a Railroad Station Master, twice married but childless. He wrote numerous letters to his cousins in New Orleans. The youngest son, Emile, was a Doctor of Medicine. Emile married Suzanne DUBLANC, and they had four children--the three oldest practicing medicine or pharmacy, and their youngest daughter a lawyer and consulting engineer.
Cova Jean Williams has a picture of her father. He has the split baird. She died when Ollie was two. The big oval picture my grandmother gave me of her parents is the only thing she knew of her mother.

Obituary Notice ? Western World ? 14 August 1952
BANDON LOGGER LOSES LIFE IN TRAILER BLAZE
A body burned beyond recognition, but later identified as that of Leonard Perkey, 36-year-old logger of Bandon, was removed Sunday morning from the fire razed ruins of a trailer house 8 miles up Catching Creek from Langlois. The trailer was parked on the Coos side of the Coos-Curry line.
Perkey was staying overnight in the trailer in order to be on-the-job Sunday morning falling timber for the Three-Way Lumber Company mill, which is owned by Adrian White of Coquille. It was presumed that he had fallen asleep while smoking in bed. Vernon Little, manager of the Schroeder Brothers Mortuary of Bandon, was deputized as coroner and brought the body here.
The Perkey family has been living at one of the Wayside Cottages east of Bandon.
Other employees of the lumber company discovered the fire around 8:00 a.m. Sunday. It is reported that the fire was still burning and that the heat was so intense that even spun glass insulation and the windows of the trailer were melted.
Perkey was born at Elk City, Oklahoma, June 1, 1916.
Services will be held at Schroeder Brothers Chapel in Bandon at 2:00 p.m. Friday, August 15, with the Rev. Wesley Lange officiating. Interment will be in the IOOF Cemetery.
