Robert Cecil McDaniel, a descendant, wrote in his autobiography that "My McDaniel ancestors migrated west from the Edgefield District near Spartanburg, South Carolina, and apparently stopped for a time in Mississippi. They were enumerated in the federal census of 1850, both in Itwambia County, Mississippi, and in Sabine County, Texas." He also indicated that they settled in the community later to be known as Fairdale, in the southeastern part of Sabine County.

Her Texas Death certificate shows she was married at the time of her death, and her last name was RECTOR. She had been a resident of Beaumont for 14 years when she died.
Bible records show him as a son of Calvin McDANIEL and Levinia WALLER. His mother, listed as Levene McDaniel, was living with his family in 1860, and nearby them in 1870.
Bible records indicate that appears to have had a sister, Mary McDaniel (b. 7 Dec 1826) who married Henry CARTER on 28 Aug 1851, and died in Jan 1853. Bible records also show another likely sister, Martha McDaniel (b. 29 Mar 1828).

Robert Cecil McDaniel wrote that she married Edgar TINSLEY and during World War II, they were living in Oakland, California. She shares a double grave marker with Edgar at the Oak Hill Cemetery. Only her date of birth was carved as of the 1997 death of Edgar, so it appears he preceded her in death.
Obituary
Zuda Lee McDaniel Tinsley 95, after a gracious journey down this last difficult portion of life's path, Zuda died on April 30, 2016 just hours after the birth of a new baby girl in the family.
Zuda was born in Yellowpine on August 14, 1920. After high school, she rode the train alone to the California/Oregon border to join her newly wedded husband, Edgar Tinsley. During their 57 years of marriage, they had two daughters.
Zuda worked for the school district in Redding, California as the manager of food services. She retired prematurely from those responsibilities to join Edgar in Alaska to manage a remote fishing lodge for many summers. Those were halcyon days for the both of them.
Zuda was preceded in death by her husband Edgar and their daughter, Sharon. She leaves her daughter, Carolyn and four beloved grandchildren, Adam, Allison, Kirsten, and Justin and their loved ones.
Son-in-law, Reverend Richard Pearson will conduct services at the graveside at Oak Hill Cemetery. Graveside will be at 2:00PM, May 7, 2016, in the Oakhill Cemetery. To all who claim a friendship or kinship, a heartfelt thanks for enriching her life.

Hector L. McDermott
The following account of the death of Hector L. McDermott, whose passing was noted in the Chronicle last week, is taken from a Santa Anna, California, newspaper:
Arrangements for services for Hector L. McDermott, who died at his home at 1209 North Main street last Friday afternoon, today were being delayed pending word of the return of his brother, H. (sic) M. McDermott, who is at Fuerte, Mexico, where he is general manager of the El Fuerte Smelting and Mining company.
Two telegrams have been send advising him of his brother's death. As he has not answered, it is assumed by relatives that he is either at the mine, which is sixty or more miles from a telegraph office, or traveling in the district in the interest of his company.
Decedent was vice-president of McDermott, Mount and Company, implement dealers at 318 West 4th street. He came here eight years ago from Eagle Rock, Cal., and entered business at the address given. Prior to locating at Eagle Rock in February 1912 the family resided at Cass City, Mich., where Mr. McDermott was president of the city council and where he was active in city and social activities.
He was a Mason and Odd Fellow, holding membership in these lodges at Cass City. He was a member of the Santa Ana Kiwanis club and a teacher of the Mateer Bible class of the First Presbyterian church.
During his business life here he won the confidence and esteem of associates and patrons as well as friends and acquaintances made in a social way.
He had been suffering with paralysis for six months. He was born near Teeswater, Ontario, Canada, October 18, 1866, and came to the United States in 1881.
Mr. McDermott is survived by his mother, Mrs. Margaret McDermott, 134 West Twentieth street; his widow, Mrs. Barbara McDermott; a daughter, Miss Belle McDermott, teacher in Greenville school; two sons, Alton, a pupil at the high school, and Justin, who is attending the Polytechnic school of Engineering at Oakland; three brothers, H.A. McDermott, Los Angeles; Hugh McDermott, Port Huron, Mich.; and Alan M. McDermott, Santa Ana.

FELL DEAD IN CORN FIELD
H.C. McDermott Is the Victim of Heart Disease.
Funeral Services Will Be Held in the Presbyterian Church Saturday Afternoon.
H.C. McDermott dropped dead about ten o'clock Wednesday forenoon, while assisting Morton Orr, who was at work in a corn field on his mother's farm in the eastern limits of the town. Mr. McDermott was subject to attacks of heart trouble and early Wednesday morning complained of a pain in his side. Home remedies were applied and then he went over to the Orr farm and tried to work in the field. Suddenly he fell to the ground and expired almost immediately. Help was summoned and his body was taken to the home of his son, H.L. McDermott, a short distance from where he had been working. Heart failure is given as the cause for his sudden demise.
Hugh Carson McDermott was born in Three Rivers, Quebec, May 20, 1837. Forty-six years ago he was united in marriage to Miss Margaret McLean at Teeswater, Ont. She still survives him. They came to Michigan in 1882, settling on a farm in Grant Township, where they resided until four years ago when they moved to Cass City. Their five children, four sons, A.J., of Douglas, Arizona; A.M., of Los Angeles, Cal.; Hugh, who still resides on the old homestead in Grant Township; H.L. of this place; and one daughter, Mrs. E. Sedweek of Calumet, are all living. He also has a brother in Los Angeles and a sister in Seattle.
Through the death of Mr. McDermott the village has lost one of her best citizens, a Christian man of excellent habits, quiet, unobtrusive in his manner, yet winning the esteem of everyone he met along life's way. He was a member of the Presbyterian church, and the funeral services will be held in that church on Saturday afternoon at two o'clock.
(Cass City Chronicle, Oct. 11, 1907, p. 1.)
In March, 2008, Bruce McDermott, a direct descendant, emailed that Hugh's father was Andrew McDermott who was "born in Straban, Tyrone County, Northern Ireland about 1800 I have nothing on him just words on paper my grandfather wrote. Andrews' grandfather came to Northern Ireland
from Lock Awe, Scotland about 1604."

Hemphill, Texas, June 5, 1936
On Saturday, May 30, Bluford McDonald passed away at his home in Yellowpine, at the age of 77. He was born August 10, 1858, at Lidago, Ala. Being an orphan, he accepted the invitation of his brother, at about the age of 10, to come to Gladewater, Texas, where he made his home until manhood.
He was first married to Miss Josephine Davis, of Ringgold, La. To this union were born seven sons and two daughters, of whom two sons and one daughter survive, Jim of Yellowpine, Charlie, of Pineland, and Mrs. E. M. Edgar of Wellington, Texas.
He was later married, December 24, 1906 to Miss Callie Impson, to whom were born three sons and two daughters, three of whom survive, as follows: Louis and Willie McDonald and Mrs. Hollis Stewart, all of Yellowpine. His widow also survives him.
Mr. McDonald was a substantial citizen and an active member of the Baptist church for many years. He was a member of the local school board at the time of his death. The school board was in session at the very time of his death in his home, and he suddenly passed away from attack of heart failure. He lived the greater part of his life in Sabine County.
Interment was made in the Oak Hill cemetery Sunday afternoon. Rev. O. M. Corley, of Hemphill, conducted funeral services.
The pallbearers were Josh Smith, Edward Drowell, Bill Gooch, Hortman Ener, Taylor Smith and Henry Solly.

Paula Jones and Stacey Burton both show him as John Quincy McDonald, and as a son of Robert Knoles McDonald and Ann Elizabeth Latham. This seems unlikely, as John was born in Scotland in 1823, and all of the children of Robert Knoles McDonald, and Ann Elizabeth Latham were born between 1820 and 1832 in Louisiana.
Additonally, Alison Raborn posted the following note to the McDonald Family Genealogy Forum on August 12, 2010:
When Margaret Ann [McDONALD] Bossier, daughter of Robert Knoles & Ann Elizabeth [LATHAM] McDonald, died her husband Sylvestre DeBrune Bossier married Narcissa [WALDROP] McDonald. Narcissa's FIRST husband was John Quincy McDonald. John Quincy McDonald is NOT the father, son, or brother of Robert Knoles McDonald. Here is why: 1850 Sabine Parish Louisiana Census (www.census-online.com)dwelling # 041a41 list the following McDonald family: John, age 27, born in Scotland, Narcissa, age 22, Claiborne, age 5, Betty, age 3, Robert K., age 1, born in Alabama. IN THE SAME CENSUS,but on p.24, dwelling# 095a95 there is listed McDonald, R.K., age 52, born in South Carolina; wife Elizabeth, age 45, born in Louisiana.
Also in the Sabine Parish Louisiana Marriage Records has R.K. McDonald, Justice of Peace, married his granddaughter Louisiana Bossier to a Franklin ALLEN on January 10, 1856. AND R.K.McDonald and Elizabeth's daughter, oldest child, Margaret Ann was born in 1820; therefore her father could not have been 1 year old in 1850. I don't know where in South Carolina R.K McDonald came from, but Narcissa WALDROP's father Claiborne Parish Waldrop and family came from South Carolina's 95th District Newberry County, and showed up in Louisiana about same time R.K. McDonald did. If anyone has any South Carolina information please contact me!

Memorial services for Lexie Lucille Hall, 96, of Lufkin will be held Thursday, January 19, 2017 at 1:30 p.m. in the PineCrest Retirement Community Chapel with Pastor Mark Newton officiating.
Mrs. Hall was born January 13, 1920 in Hemphill, Texas and passed away Saturday, January 7, 2017 in Lufkin, Texas.
Mrs. Hall graduated as Valedictorian of Pineland High School in 1938 and married Murray Martin Hall in September of that year. In 1940, they moved to Lufkin.
Mrs. Hall devoted her life to her husband and children and to being a homemaker. She excelled in all the domestic arts. A wonderful cook and seamstress, she kept an immaculate house. Working in her garden was one of her greatest pleasures as evidenced in her beautiful yard and flower garden.
She faithfully attended Lufkin's First Baptist Church, where she served in several volunteer capacities over the years.
The Cut-N-Grow Garden Club was one of her favorite activities and, while a member, she hosted many meetings and won several flower arranging competitions. She was also a member of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas and the Genealogy Club.
Mrs. Hall was an amazing woman of great strength, courage, determination and faith. She never quit striving, even in the face of overwhelming obstacles. She is deeply loved and will be greatly missed.
Mrs. Hall was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Ethel Travis McDonald; her husband, Murray Martin Hall; and her sister and brother-in-law, Lois and Jack Lynch.
She is survived by her daughter, Marlea Lamprea (German) of San Antonio; her son, Milton Hall (Lily) of Katy; her niece, Laura McQuerry (Mike) of Okahoma City, Oklahoma; as well as numerous cousins.
Expressions of sympathy in Mrs. Hall's memory may be made to First Baptist Church Lufkin, 106 E. Bremond Avenue, Lufkin, Texas 75901, or to a charity of your choice.
Memories and condolences may be added at www.carrowayfuneralhome.com.
