His Texas Death Certificate shows him as a retired carpenter, and that he was a son of Walter McBRIDE, born Louisiana, and Mary GREENLEE, born Arkansas.
His FindAGrave Memorial page, created by Michael and Jennifer McBride, contains the following information:
There has been disagreement in the family as to what his middle name was. His social security card says it was Washington, but some members are fairly certain it was actually Wesley.
His WWI Draft Registration record says it was Walker. This is what he swore to and how he signed it so this is what I will go with. It is likely that there was not a birth certificate when he born and he had to obtain a delayed birth certificate when he needed it for Social Security. A delayed birth certificate would have required finding someone who had first hand knowledge of his birth. It is possible he changed his middle name to Washington at that time due to what someone else said for the delayed birth certificate.
FindAGrave also links him to three wives, Pearl PRICE (1890-1918), Ruth MOSS [the widow] Rawson (1892-1924), and Alma (1908-1959). There are also seven children linked to him on that website.

His Texas Death Certificate indicates that although he died in Clarendon, Texas of a sudden cardiac arrest, he was a resident of Wichita, Kansas. His usual occupation was brick mason, in the construction industry, and his parents were shown as W. E. McCampbell and Alpha Proffitt. He was born in Barnard, North Carolina. Informant was Keith F. McCampbell, son.
The biographical information below was copied from the FindAGrave memorial created by J. Lowery, and maintained by "Churchwell":
ROBERT JAMES PEMBROKE McCANTS born October 13, 1812 in South Carolina where he migrated from to Chambers County, Alabama, shortly before 1840 when he was listed in the census as "McCats". He was a physician and prosperous landowner. He was shot dead on Sep. 21, 1849 by his servant, John. It is said that John was paid to do the deed by a rival physician. Dr. McCants was married to Caroline Elizabeth Allen, both are buried in a fenced area at the rear of the Moses Wheat Cemetery.
She appears to have married a Nunley, and been widowed (?) at a young age. At the time of the 1860 Federal Census, she was living with her mother and younger siblings in Chambers County, Alabama. She was listed as Victoria Nunley, age 22, and enumerated without a husband, but with two sons, Wm. Nunley, age 6, born in Georgia, and Toliar/Goliar, age 4, also born in Georgia.
One of her daughters, Cynthia Rudzis writes that Cleo "first married Lester Lafayette Knowles at a very young age and divorced a few years later. She then married Charles Roland Smith which ended in divorce in the early 60's. After she and her sister Deanie (Floyd Burnidean) moved to New Jersey, she met my father, Dominick Anthony Capozzolo. Third time was the charm. They married on October 20th, 1962 in Philadelphia, PA. My mother has three living children. Nancy, from her first marriage. Sharon from her second, and myself. There was also a son from her first marriage, Jimmy, who passed away at age 2....We always lived on the East Coast between New Jersey, Virginia, where I was born, then later Rome, NY, then back to Virginia."
Sharon Larson emailed that Cynthia Suzanne is Cleo's adopted daughter.
Shown, in error, on the 1900 census as daughter Emma, born Nov 1893.

Cynthia Rudzis writes that "Aunt Deannie" was like a second mother to me. Aunt Dean married once that I know of, to a man named Travis Taylor and had two children, Donnie and Patricia. I don't know of Donnie's status, but Patty passed in 1997 or 98. She and Mom moved to New Jersey together in the late 50's and there she met and later married my Uncle Bill Stibi. Aunt Dean was a long time employee of Gimble's in Philadelphia and outside of my Mom, was probably one of the funniest people I ever knew"
Her Social Security account was established in New Mexico.
Cynthia Rudzis states that he married Veree CLARK on 19 Oct 1932, and were the parents of Wayne and Delores. He owned Mac and Son Sporting Goods, and lived into his early 90's.
Her Texas Death certificate indicates she died in childbirth, to to a problem with her anesthesia. The informant was J. C. McCARRELL.

MISSES ADA MCCALLAHAN and EFFIE PAYNE of Duncan were in the city. Miss McCallahan has been elected to fill the vacancy occasioned by the resignation of MISS FANNY BAKER.
Ada McClanahan, Olive McClanahan's niece, was a great beauty. She was thought to have been brought up in Duncan. In 1933/4 she came back, or at least came, for a visit to Duncan from Arizona. Ada was looking for the Marvin Payne family and was asking directions. When she met the nineteen year old Lewis Adair Payne and asked him for their whereabouts He was totally tongue-tied by the sight of her. She was to report back to his mother, Grace, when she finally found the house that Lewis certainly wasn't going to give away any secrets.
Ada later married a man from Kingman, Arizona who is thought to have managed a picture theatre there. His name is not known. Ada may have married in Duncan if she had been brought up there, however, the McClanahan family do not appear in the 1910 Stephens Co. census. There is a the strong possibility that Ada was Callie's, approximately 45 year old, daughter in 1933. The idea is further substantiated by Lewis' understanding that Ada was a double second cousin of his. She may have had a previous marriage.

Actor Rue McClanahan of the 'Golden Girls' fame passed away in Manhattan on Thursday. She was 76. She is survived by husband, Morrow Wilson, son, Mark T. Bish and sister, Melinda Lou McClanahan. Barbara Lawrence, her Manager, confirmed the cause of death to be a brain hemorrhage. Ms. McClanahan was ailing for sometime and had undergone heart bypass surgery in 2009. Earlier, she underwent treatment for breast cancer in 1997.
Rue McClanahan shot into limelight with her performance in 'The Golden Girls', an epic sitcom telecast in 1985. 'The Golden Girls' was an instant hit, climbing to No. 1 position after its very first show. Rue McClanahan's role, as a Southern belle Blanche Devereaux, played a key contribution in the immense popularity of the show. Other actors who played the Golden Girls were Ms. Betty White (Rose), Ms. Bea Arthur (Dorothy) and Ms. Estelle Getty (Sophia, Dorothy's mother). With the passing away of Ms. McClanahan, only Ms. White (88) survives of the 'eccentric four'.
She was born in Healdton, Oklahoma, on February 21, 1934. Her father was a contractor and mother a beautician. She grew up in Oklahoma, Texas and Louisiana. Her debut as an actor came early when she played a part in 'The Three Little Kittens', a local production, at the tender age of four. She studied drama and German at the University of Tulsa and graduated in 1956. In her early career, she appeared onstage in New York on several occasions.
In her Broadway debut in Murray Schisgal's 'Jimmy Shine', Ms. McClanahan's played the role of a prostitute. She won Obie Award for her role of the father's mistress in Oliver Hailey's "Who's Happy Now?", an Off Broadway family drama. She also acted in sitcoms, 'All in the Family' and 'Maude'.
However, it was her work in 'The Golden Girls' that brought her maximum fame. The sitcom, which is about four eccentric middle aged women, gained unprecedented popularity and won many Emmys. Ms. McClanahan captured this prestigious award for her outstanding performance as lead actor. Her role in the show was inspired by 'Gone with the Winds' actors, Scarlett O'Hara and Blanche DuBois, she once said. On another occasion she remarked that 'The Golden Girls' brought out different layers that people go on adding as they age. The show reveals our child, adolescence as well as personality as mature women, she added.
Many industry critics believe that shows like 'Sex and the City', which is about four young funny women, take cue for 'The Golden Girls'.
After "The Golden Girls" was discontinued in 1992, Ms. McClanahan acted in "The Golden Palace", a spinoff. She also acted in movies and on Broadways. She was a passionate animal rights activist and delivered a lecture on 'Aging Gracefully'.
Ms. McClanahan was married six times-Morrow Wilson, Tom Bish, Norman Hartweg, Peter D'Maio, Gus Fisher and Tom Keel- and titled her autobiography, which was authored in 1997, 'My First Five Husbands ? And the Ones Who Got Away.'
First name sometimes shown as Edwin, but appears to be Edmund based on both the 1850 and 1860 census. Shown as Edward on the 1910 census. He may have been a minister, as the Dallas County, MO marriage record of his younger brother, Daniel McClanahan to Sarah Quigley shows that Daniel was married to Sarah by "the Rev. E. F. McClanahan" in the home of of T. H. Quigley.
Ken Harvey writest that "Names on marriage cert. are McClahan and Ritten--misspelled but correct date. He served in the Union Army but no records have been found. Recorded as being born in Illinois."

Charles Strong found the family listed on the 1850 Schuyler County, Missouri census listing while on a research trip in Schulyer County, Missouri in November, 2002. He also located a deed titled Elias and Adeline Brown to Enoch C. McClanahan filed for record on July 28, 1855, made and entered into on the third day of June 1854 in the State of Missouri, County of Schulyer for land. The land was located about a mile and a half northwest of the town called Green Top. Reference Book 4, page 67. Charles sent the copy of the complete deed to Cova Jean Williams for her files.
U S General Land Office Records, 1796-1907 show that Enoch C. McClanahan was issued 40 acres of land on the 5th PM(eridan) in Schuyler County, MO, Twp 64-N, Range 15-W, Section 9, Accession #M04940___.291, Metes and Bounds No, Land Office Milan, Authority April 24, 1820, Sale-Cash Entry (3 Stat.566), Document Number 4240
The brief biography, copied below, was found on his FindAGrave memorial page, created by Larry Boyd and maintained by Emma Sue.
Enoch Cox McClanahan was born in Tennessee on April 18, 1818, to William and Sarah Cox McClanahan.
The family moved to Missouri where, on August 4, 1838, Enoch married Andromache "America" Mills. Together they had ten children. They were married 25 years before America died in 1863.
Enoch then married Mary Melinda Logsdon on November 20, 1864.
Enoch died March 9, 1877. He is buried in Montgomery Cemetery. His stone is one of a very few that was able to be found in the cemetery. It was the more legible of the stones. He is buried next to his granddaughter, Loue.
Census records list Enoch as a farmer. Cemetery records and his tombstone list him as a doctor.

Research Notes prepared by Ken Harvey below:
5 legal sized papers I not sure just what they are. Enoch C. MCCL Deed to William M Gates Plat of Township of Schuyler Co. MO Greeting from the Sheriff of Schuyler Co. Mo. His signature as a Justice of the Peace 1 page from "Histories of . . Dallas . . . . . . .MO" 3 pages Masonic Records 1868 Has been appointed guardian of his children.
It is understood that Enoch Cox McClanahan was born in Jefferson Co., Tennessee. The source for this event location is unknown. If this is correct then William McClanahan (b 1783), listed both in the 1830 and 1832 census indexes of that county, was almost certainly his father.
William was the only McClanahan listed in Jefferson Co., Tennessee. Unfortunately he was not listed (1996) in the Index to the 1820 census where he would have been expected.
