The names of Will's parents and siblings are currently unknown, though it appears from census listings that his parents were born in Lousiana. He can first be positively identified on the 1910 Tillman County, Oklahoma census, where he is living in a boarding house and working as a cook. At the time of the 1920 census, he was married and still working as a cook, but in Chickasha. Will was said to have died very shortly after this census enumeration, when his son Cecil was still very young.
He registered for the draft in Grady County, OK. His full name was listed as William Ernest Lewis, and his address at the time was 302 N. Fifth Street, Chickasha. His date of birth was shown as Sept. 6, 1882, and he was white and a native born US citizen. His occupation was given as Owner, Lunch Counter, and the business address was 101 Ohio Avenue, Chickasha. The nearest relative was Stella Lewis, his wife, and Will was described as short, slender, and with grey eyes and black hair. FHL Roll Number 18517777 Draft Board 1. The birth certificate of his son, Cecil Afton Lewis, shows his location of birth as Austin, Texas.
Will's wife, Stella, married Walter STRONG not quite six months after the 1920 census enumeration. Will was ill with tuberculosis, and was said to have died in a hospital in Oklahoma, although a death certificate has not been located. His grandchildren think it is possible that he may have actually died in either Texas or Arizona, where he may have moved for his health. It is also possible that he moved to Louisiana, where he was said to have still had family. Stella and the children accompanied him briefly to Arizona, but they returned to Oklahoma before he died.

Note: This appears to be a boarding house of sorts. Will lived here with 12 other men, in addition to William Cox, the head of the household. Each of the other occupants of the home was listed as "Partime" or "Partuer." They ranged in age from 17 to 57, with most of them being employed as restaurant Waiters or Cooks, others as Laborers at odd jobs, and a few as self employed as carpenters or machinists.
At the time of the 1920 Federal census, Stella and Will Lewis were renting a home at 129 Chickasha Avenue in Chickasha. Their census listing read as follows:

It is POSSIBLE, that either of the families below might be his at the time of the 1900 census. Both families have a connection to Lousiana, and both had sons named Will who were born within two years of the age Will reported on the 1910 and 1920 census. However it is noted that neither family is located in Travis County, where Will was said to have been born. Additionally, it does not appear likely either of the Willie Lewis's below are the Will Lewis who later married Stella Crouch, as online trees for both family groups below show the Will Lewis's below marryng (in each case someone other than Stella Crouch) and dying much later than 1920.

The haplogroup was predicted as J1, and there were no surname matches, and only a few non-surname matches. This haplogroup is believed to have arisen between 10,000 and 15,000 years ago in the Near East, the region encompassing the Levant, (modern Israel and the Palestinian territories, Jordan, Syria and Lebanon), Turkey, and Mesopotamia (Iraq and eastern Syria). A significant fraction of Jews belong to haplogroup J, but Jews represent a small minority of the European members of the haplogroup. The "Cohen Modal Haplotype" is a specific set of six Y-STR marker values that occurs in both J1 and J2, though at a much higher frequency in J1. It is likely that those of Cohanim descent and carrying the CMH belong to the J1 haplogroup. It should be noted that. in this sample, the value of 13 at 388 is 3 steps away from the norm of 16 at that marker for the Cohen Modal Haplotype. It does match the CMH on the other five markers (DYS19, DYS390, DYS391, DYS392, DYS393).

Rosalie graduated from Hemphill High School in 1931. On Dec. 30, 1933, she married Simon Elton "Pete" Anderson. They were married 72 years before Pete died on Feb. 28, 2006. Rosa could not accept his death. She thought that he was missing and kept watching each day for him to come back to her. So once again they are together. Rosalie was a wonderful wife, a great daughter, aunt and she was loved by every member of the Anderson family. Both her application for a social security account, along with the Walter Palmer Society Data Page on the internet, show her as the daughter of William Lodowick Lillibridge (1858-1932) and Flora B. Roys (???-1945). The application shows her place of birth as Port Allegany, whereas the Walter Palmer Society instead lists it as Coudersport. George Linxwiler, grandfather of Isaac W. Linxwiler, was born in the town of Two Bridges*, Germany, April, 1768, and attended school in his native country from six to fourteen years of age, receiving a good common school education. He then served an apprenticeship of three years, learning the miller's trade. He emigrated to the United States, landing at New York in 1785, and going from there to Pennsylvania. He was married in 1790 to Miss Catherine Stull, a native of the same place in Germany, born June 5, 1767. After coming to New York in 1785, she worked three years in the city to pay her passage to America. They probably resided in Pennsylvania for several years after their marriage, removing to Vanderburgh County previous to 1809. George Linxwiler died February 22, 1857, his wife early in November, 1858.

*Zweibrucken is derived from the fact that there are two bridges in the town. After Romans have settled in this area the Counts of Saarbr?cken (named after the river Saar) founded a castle in 1150 in the loop formed by the small river Schwarzbach just before it merges with the small river Hornbach.

Sidney served in the civil war. He was assigned to Co. C, 27 Texas Cavalry(Whitfields Legion, 1 Texas Legion). He enlisted on April April 15, 1862. He enlisted at Shelbyville. He was under the command of Capt. John H Broocks.
27th Cavalry Regiment [also called 1st Texas Legion] was organized during the spring of 1862 using Whitfield's 4th Texas Cavalry Battalion as its nucleus. Many of the men were recruited at Daingerfield, Clarksville, and Paris, and in Titus County. After fighting at Elkhorn Tavern as a battalion, only 9 officers and 111 men were present. The unit moved east of the Mississippi River and was dismounted. It then fought at Iuka and Corinth and during the fall was remounted. Later it saw action in Mississippi, was assigned to Ross' Brigade, took part in the Atlanta and Tennessee Campaigns, then returned to Mississippi. This regiment was organized with 1,007 officers and men, lost twenty-two percent of the 460 engaged at Iuka, and surrendered only a handful on May 4, 1865. The field officers were Colonels John W. Whitfield and Edwin R. Hawkins, Lieutenant Colonel John H. Broocks, and Majors Cyrus K. Holman and John T. Whitfield

Barbara Cunningham, in her "Farris and Cunningham Family Ancestors" tree, posted at WorldConnect at Rootsweb, shows that Delana married Earnest PINNELL and second Sam BARTON. She also has a date of death as ca. 1930.
Melba McLemore shows the same two marriages, on 23 Sept 1917 to Earnest Clyde Pinnell, and on 26 May 1927 in Texas to Sammy Gilespy Barton. Melba has a much later date of death listed, however, that of March 1986.
I was not able to locate either Delana or Earnest Pinnell at the time of the 1920 census.
In 1930 Delana is shown with her second husband, S. Glispie BURTON, in Altus, Jackson County, Oklahoma (ED 33-2, SD 8, Sheet 1B, 720-17-17). He was listed as age 43, born in Texas to a father born in Missouri, and working as a carpenter. Delana is shown with the first initial E, age 39, and born in Texas. Children in the household are H. Lowell (son) age 17, Lenys (dtr) age 14, Davis (dtr?) age 12, and Margarett (dtr) age 2. The three oldest children were all born in Texas, perhaps by a prior marriage of Gillispie Burton's? Only daughter Margarett (age 2) was born in Oklahoma. Based on the date of marriage, only Margarett could have been a child of Delana's.

Darrell was born November 18, 1969 in Center, Texas, to Leon Loggins and Linda Kay (Rhodes) Loggins, and died Thursday, March 25, 2021 at his residence.
Darrell worked as a Registered Respiratory Therapist at CHI St. Luke's Health Memorial Hospital in Lufkin for 12 years. He attended Rosevine United Pentecostal Church. He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Amber Loggins of Hudson; son, Ethan Cade Loggins of Hudson; parents, Leon and Linda Loggins of Rebecca, TX; brother and sister-in-law, Chuck and April Loggins of San Augustine; brother, Kent Loggins of Hudson; nephews, Cole and Kyle; nieces, Kailyn and Cierra; along with a large extended family and many friends.
Darrell was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Horace and Virgie Lee Loggins; maternal grandfather, Hershel Rhodes, Sr.; maternal grandmother, Adell Burch; grandfather, Loy "Pa Skeet" Burch; uncles, Tim Rhodes, Hershel, Jr., James, Paul Albert, Tommy, Sr., Kenneth Earl, and Kenny Loggins; and aunt, Glenda Ward.
Pallbearers will be Ethan Loggins, Chuck Loggins, Kent Loggins, Cole Loggins, Kyle Loggins, Joe Bourghs, and Ivy Reynolds.

McClelland honored with diploma
Alma J. Lott McClelland was honored Thursday night by the Hemphill I.S.D. Board of Trustees. Mrs. McClelland has been a volunteer at the Hemphill I.S.D.'s cafeteria for the past nine years-serving ice cream at least two days a week.
The school learned that she had never received her high school diploma because she had to go to work to help her family. She lacked one and one-half credits to obtain her diploma, so Hemphill I.S.D. presented her with an honorary diploma.
Mrs. McClellend's daugther, Nancy Fuller, and granddaughter, Missi Fuller Gibbons, were by her side Thursday night as she received this special recognition.
Hemphill High School Principal Marc Griffin read the following before the diploma was presented:
"In 1939, our country was in a different place than we know it today. Having just stabilized after World War I, then surviving the Great Depression, the United States was at work again. With millions of men away fighting, huge numbers of horrific casualities still lingering from World War I, there was a severe shortage of laborers in a range of jobs from rural to the cities. Women were called on, by necessity, to do work outside the home.....Sabine County was no exception. Many men and women of [that era] dropped out of school as non-completing seniors to either suppor the war effort directly or support their families while the men were away. Alma J. Lott dropped out of high school in October of 1939 to go to work. Her father, Joshua Lott, had returned home from World War I with lung deterioration due to being gassed while held as prisoner of war in France. Hemphill had a sewing room which paid $2 a day for women would go to work for family support. Sewing rooms housed large and dangerous equipment. Certainly there was no air conditioning. Nonetheless, Alma, like millions of other young people from 1935 to 1945 when to work...Alma has lived a life with few regrets. But the one regret she has mentioned numerous times is how she wished she could have graduated from high school...Numerous times, when her family has complained about a "difficult subject" she always told them to 'Hush' (because) if given a chance she would have become a medical doctor. She has been a lifelong reader and has encouraged all those whose lives she touched to always continue to read and learn. She has worked 'around the square' in Hemphill. She has decorated retails windows, done bookkeeping in stores, ordering, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and maintained displays and every other area of retail sales. Later in life, she operated Granny's House, a licensed family home for child care in Hemphill. She insisted on checking every child's report card once they entered school, and if the bus dropped them off she made them do their homework (which she checked) after a healthy snack. Graduating from college was not an option that was ever given [to her daughter and grandchildren] Nancy, Trey or Missi....In 2001...the federal legislature formally recognized those high school seniors who interupted their own education to contribute to the U.S.'s economic support...They gave the states the right to return the privilege of graduation to those young men and women show left high shool during the time of war and economic depression....."
Obituary
Alma Julie Lott McClelland, age 93 passed from this earthly life on June 5, 2016 in The Woodlands, Texas. She was born November 2, 1922, in Bronson, Texas. Alma was the daughter of Mary Elizabeth Jacks Lott and Joshua Andrew Lott. Preceded in death was her husband, Van Ennis Mc Clelland, grandson, Grayson Fuller and three brothers, Albert, Herman, and Hulan Lott. She was a resident of Sabine County for 86 years where she was fondly referred to by numerous children as "Granny" or at school as the "Ice Cream and pickle Lady." Her life was a testimony to the person she was. Managing Granny's House, where she cared for numerous children complete with home Cooked meals, serving as the Nursery Manager for her beloved First Baptist Church touching the lives of so many children, or volunteering at school for nine years, to raise scholarships for students, were all done with love and the greatest care she had to offer. Frequently, When asked why she volunteered at school three to four days a week her answer was always the same. "If I can help one child go to college by selling pickles and ice cream, that will be an opportunity I never had." She received a Presidential commendation from President George H W Bush following the explosion of the Columbia Space shuttle. She cooked more than 100 dishes to serve to the volunteers with her own money. Granny was Nursery Director of First Baptist Church for nine years. She worked "on the square" in Hemphill most of her young adult life.
She is survived by her daughter Nancy Fuller Gilpin and husband Jerry of Montgomery, Texas, two grandchildren, Trey and Wynter Fuller and Melissa and Nick Gibbens, of Houston. Her life was blessed by five great grandchildren; Graham, Stella, Gracie, Will, and Liam.
Granny's final resting place will be the Lott Cemetery.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, June 11, at 2 pm, First Baptist Church. A reception will follow for all friends and loved ones.
Granny's favorite charity is Hemphill ISD Scholarship Fund.
