Finn McLemore was born in Georgia in 1853, moving with his parents to Texas when he was still young. His first two wives both died in childbirth within a year of their marriages, and his oldest daughter, Valuma, was raised by her mother's parents, Francis and Sarah Wigley. Finn and his third wife, Rutha White, had eight children.
