Notes |
- Melba McLemore thinks Abner may be the father of the William McLemore, born between 1832 and 1825 in Tennessee, and who lived in Mississippi near Abner and Sterling McLemore at the time of the 1870 and 1880 Federal Census enumerations.
There was another William McLemore, born between 1818 and 1821, who was living in Lawrence County, Alabama at the time of the 1860 and 1870 Federal Census enumerations. Abner McLemore was a former resident of Lawrence County, Alabama. At the time of the 1860 census, his occupation was shown as shoemaker, which is the same occupation Abner McLemore reported at the time of the 1860 census.
Both William's are good fits as possible sons of Abner McLemore, and at this time it is not known which one of them, if either, are actually his son. Both are indexed in these files with their families.
