His double tombstoen at Harper's Chapel Cemetery is with Naomi J. CLARK, his third wife. Obituary The Sabine County Reporter April 23, 1997, page 18 Lathern Clark, 83, of Route 4, Hemphill, died at 2:30 a.m. Thursday, April 17, 1997, at Sabine County Hospital. Clark, born Feb. 15, 1997 (sic) in Louisiana, had lived in the Hemphill/Pineland area most of his life and was retired from the timber industry, employed to Temple-Inland Forest Products. He was a member of the East Mayfield Baptist Church and Littleton Fowler Masonic Lodge #305 in Hemphill. Survivors: wife, Naomi J. Clark of Hemphill; sons, Lathern Paul Clark of Bossier City, La., Commissioner Keith C. Clark of Hemphill, and David Wayne Clark of Pasedena; daughters, Bobbie Merrell Herrington of Pineland, Sue Nell Medley of Burkeville, Joanne Harley of Hemphill, and Wanda Hines of Morris Town, Tennessee; sisters, Audie Armstrong and Gladys Boone, both of Hemphill; 23 grandchildren; 41 great grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Riday at the chapel of Starr Funeral Home Inc. in Hemphill with Bro. W. Clarence Howll, Bro. Bob Arthur, and Bro. Cecil Pembleton officiating. Hostesses will be their five children and sons-in-law and daughter-in-law, which include Mr. and Mrs. Lathern Clark, Mr. and Mrs. Bebe Clark, and Mr. and Mrs. Walter Boone, all of Hemphill, Mr. and Mrs. E. L. Clark of Burkeville, and Mrs. Audie Armstrong of Odessa. Mrs. Clark was the former Annie Pressley of Bellwood, La., in Natchitoches Parish, and she and Mr. Clark, a native of Fairmount, in Sabine County, were married on Apirl 13, 1913. They have 13 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. They have lived in Sabine County since they were married, except for 6 years in La. and 3 years in Anderson County, Texas. When they moved to Anderson County, it was by covered wagon. There were five small children and the trip took eight days, during which time they camped at night.
