| Zahn, Leontine (center and mother of the girls) and her daughters, Bennie, Lucy, Amanda, and Nettie (l to r) Amanda Zahn and Emile Martin were married in 1945. Johnette Martin recounts that within a few years of their wedding, her father took her mother, her grandmother, and her three Aunt's, all single at the time, on a car trip to Canada. Her father did most of the driving. At one point, however, one of his sister-in-law's was at the wheel, and imprudently tried to pass a vehicle. Had he not quickly jammed his foot over hers, they wouldn't have survived. This photo was taken during that memorable trip. |
