Harvel Gene Walker
Harvel Gene Walker, 63, of Hemphill died Sunday, March 31, 1996, at Sabine County Hospital following an extended illness.
Born May 26, 1932, as a son of the late J. B. and Bessie (Stringer) Walker, he was a lifelong area resident. Walker was retired as a teacher, coach and principal with the Hemphill Independent School District. Following his retirement he served as municipal judge of the City of Hemphill and with the board of directors for Sabine County Hospital. He was a U. S. Army Veteran of Korea and a member of the Shriners, Littleton Fowler Masonic Lodge #305 and First Baptist Church.
Survivors: wife, Faye Walker of Hemphill; a son, William Foster Walker of Lufkin, a ssiter, Mary Frances SEDWICK of Hemphill, three brothers, J. B. Walker Jr of Bardwell, C. L. Walker of Hemphill, and C. O. Walker of Richmond; and two grandsons, Christopher Walker and Zachary Walker.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the chapel of Starr Funeral Home Inc in Hemphill with Bro. Wendell Ferguson, Bro. Richard L. Smith, Bro. W. Clarence Howell, and Father Otis Paul Procella officiating. Interment was at Hemphill City Cemetery.
