- Lowell graduated from school in 1926. He served in the Civilian Conservation Corps in 1925 for six months--during this time his wife Mildred lived with her father and sister Alba. He later found work in California at Douglas Aircraft, living in Santa Monica, returning briefly to Nebraska where his youngest daughter was born. Lowell also worked for Northrup Aircraft, and then for the Santa Monica Unified School District as a bus driver and mechanic. He was an avid gardener, fisherman and Mason. In 1985 he received the Hiram Award as a member of the Ocean Park Lodge for his dedicated service. (Milligan, p 272).
