- Frances "Fran" Louise Fuller was born in Nacogdoches, Texas on Decemeber 16,1943 to Ruby Theo Jordan & James Easter Fuller of Hemphill, TX. Her family moved to the "big city" of Tyler, TX. On August 16, 1955 at 16 she had the opportunity to see a 21 year-old Elvis in concert. Her mother wouldn't allow her to go because she thought she had the measles. She didn't. She never forgave her mother. (She finally saw Elvis in 1974.) After completing John Tyler High early, she attended nursing school in Austin, TX. As a military spouse she lived in Arkasas, California, Massachusetts, Florida, Kansas & Alaska. In 1975, she earned her BS in nursing, graduating cum laude from Alaska Methodist University while working at Hope Cottage with a husband in the Air Force & 2 children under the age of 7. She returned home to TX in 1976 & was a long time member of Saint Paul United Methodist Church in Hurst where she sang in the choir & was active in the Mary & Martha group .After a stint at Arlington Memorial Hospital, she worked at North Hills Medical Center in North Richland Hills, TX. The last decade of her career was her favorite because she worked in Labor & Delivery. After retiring she moved to San Antonio & became a member of University Presbyterian Church in San Antonio.
She passed away peacefully after a long illness on September 21, 2021 at the age of 77. She passed at Juniper Village in Lincoln Heights, TX after thriving in assisted living for 4 years.
Passions:
She was an avid gardener, movie & music lover. She loved to dance. She adored good Mexican food & strong Margaritas. A voracious reader. She was a student of the classics. A painter & potter with numerous artistic endeavors included singing, charcoal & painting. She was a fan of Ann Richards & Molly Ivans & became very interested in politics in her retirement years. She was an avid consumer of MSNBC & was dedicated to turning Texas blue. She was a generous contributor to the Texas Democratic Party, Bexar County Democratic Women, Alamo City Democrats & volunteered for many TX Democrats. She was an advocate for women's rights & an unapologetic Planned Parenthood supporter.
Proceeded in death by her Mother ~Ruby Theo Jordan, Father ~ James Easter Fuller & brother ~ James "Jimmy" M. Fuller of Bakersfield, CA. She is survived by her two children & three grandchildren. Son, Brian David Coleman of San Antonio, TX. Daughter, Lisa Coleman-Austin of Seattle, WA. Grandchildren: Brandon Ross Austin of Kirkland, WA, Ethan James Coleman of Boulder, CO & Sophie Alena Coleman of San Antonio, TX
