He d ca 1832, in Wilkinson Co Ga, leaving his widow Martha* who was on the 1850 census. The Allen Chambers family came to Sabine County in 1860, where he died Feb 5, 1884. His wife died Apr 29, 1878. Both are buried in the New Hope cemetery." White & Toole, SABINE COUNTY HISTORICAL SKETCHES AND GENEALOGICAL RECORDS. Virgie Speights wrote that the Chambers came from Georgia in the middle 1800's and settled on Chambers Hill, north of Milam, where they built a log cabin, in which they lived until they moved a mile or so further north, and built another cabin. Eventually they built a new huge, handhewn, square logged house, which was still standing when she wrote of it in the mid 1960's, and was owned by Elzie Chambers, who used the original home as a corn crib.
*Martha Chambers on 1850 Wilkinson Co Ga census is widow of Henry Chambers, and NOT the widow of his father William (Sr) Chambers. Martha, Henry's widow, lived until 1873. (Email from Earl Scott Chambers).
