  Notes	The Comanche Reflex Comanche, I. T. (Comanche, Stephens County, Oklahoma) Friday, August 11, 1905 MISSES ADA MCCALLAHAN and EFFIE PAYNE of Duncan were in the city. Miss McCallahan has been elected to fill the vacancy occasioned by the resignation of MISS FANNY BAKER. Ada McClanahan, Olive McClanahan's niece, was a great beauty. She was thought to have been brought up in Duncan. In 1933/4 she came back, or at least came, for a visit to Duncan from Arizona. Ada was looking for the Marvin Payne family and was asking directions. When she met the nineteen year old Lewis Adair Payne and asked him for their whereabouts He was totally tongue-tied by the sight of her. She was to report back to his mother, Grace, when she finally found the house that Lewis certainly wasn't going to give away any secrets. Ada later married a man from Kingman, Arizona who is thought to have managed a picture theatre there. His name is not known. Ada may have married in Duncan if she had been brought up there, however, the McClanahan family do not appear in the 1910 Stephens Co. census. There is a the strong possibility that Ada was Callie's, approximately 45 year old, daughter in 1933. The idea is further substantiated by Lewis' understanding that Ada was a double second cousin of his. She may have had a previous marriage.
