Sharp and his deputy, Jim Greer, arrested John Henry Cooper and Clyde Robinson in Rebecca (southern part of San Augustine county) and charged them with assault to murder Dennis Armstrong. Dr. Ellington, who treated Armstrong, said he had a severe head injury. His skull was fractured when he was struck with a shotgun breaking the stock.
