- In his 2002 book, THE MYSTERY OF LADY BOUNTIFUL, Bob Bowman writes that a $5,000 bond was posted for Lillian Knox, accuses of murdering her husband, timber magnate Hiram Knox. The bond was singed by five Hemphill men, including Dr. Tom ARNOLD, a witness for the prosecution. The other four were E. P PADGETT, a lawyer; J.P. (sic) FULLER, who owned a drug store; L.E. PRATT, a merchant; and John W. MINTON, attorney for the Know family. Another press report listed S.R. Williams as surety. (Bowman, p. 105).
