  Notes	Varley Obert Smith Varley Obert Smith, 81, of Beaumont died Wednesday, Sept. 4, 1996, at a Beaumont hospital. Smith was born July 13, 1915, in Sabine County as a son of the late John O. and Nancy Elizabeth (Dainwood) Smith and had lived in Jefferson County since 1949. He was a retired manager at Ritter Lumber Company in Nederland and also held membership at Nederland First Baptist Church and Nederland Masonic Lodge #1368. Survivors:" wife, Leola Smith of Beaumont; a son Thomas M. "Mickey" Smith of Beaumont; a brother, Fred Smith of Fairmount; and one grandchild. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the chapel of Starr Funeral Home Inc. in Hemphill iwth Bro. Richard Bass offiiciating.
