Notes |
- "Tommy" Cleo Goodwin Gooch, Jr, 70, of Hemphill, Texas passed away Saturday, October 15, 2022 in Corner Stone Hospital, Conroe, Texas.
Tommy was born to Cleo Goodwin Gooch, Sr. and Minnie Alyce Ferguson Gooch on April 9, 1952 in Hemphill, Texas. He was a lifetime resident of Sabine County and a member of East Mayfield Missionary Baptist Church. He attended Hemphill High School and after graduation, he became a truck driver and heavy equipment operator.
He was a mountain of a man with a big sense of humor. He liked to go hunting and fishing and was a member of the National Rifle Association. He also liked muddin' and tearing stuff up. He loved old country and gospel music and could play several instruments including trombone from his high school band days and guitar, piano, mandolin, and dobro. He also loved hog hunting, running his dogs, and traveling to rodeos with his girls. He was a family man that enjoyed spending his time with his wife, children and grandchildren.
Being the Jack of all Trades that he was, he owned Gooch Logging Company and later Gooch Trucking Company before working construction and pipeline. He also worked for the City of Hemphill before retiring.
Tommy is survived by his wife of nearly 34 years, Donna Gooch of Hemphill; sons, Scot Gooch and wife, Shellie, of Elysian Fields and Robert Walden and wife, Charlene, of Brazoria; daughters, Caterina Pearson and husband, Jason, of Hemphill; Jennifer Newell of Milam, and Taylor Beekman and husband, Nick, of Blue Springs, Nebraska; sister, Amanda Hammock and husband, Virgil, of Hemphill; mother-in-law, Lee Jinkins of Hemphill; grandchildren, Whitney Fogle and Kevin, Danielle Halderman and Casey, Alexis Dragon and Trenton, Colby Pearson and Kaylee, Ty Pearson and Heather, Colton Gooch, Justice Gooch and Blakely Beekman; great grandchildren, Hunter and Chance Fogle, Kreed and Kross Pearson and Evie Pearson; nieces, Monica and Kirk, Melanie and Todd, Kelly and Michelle; nephews, Jerred and Mason; and his 44 oz.
