Services for John T. McLamore, 49, were held at First Christian Church. Mr. McLamore was killed in the crash of his plane in Chester County, Pennsylvania. Services were officiated by Dr. George W. Davis, pastor of First Christian Church at Wichita Falls, assisted by Rev. Charles Morris, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church of Seymour.
Bringing the urn, were Robert R. Welch of Hadden Field, New Jersey, a close associate of John McLamore and Herbert M. Hucke, with RCA Victor, who came from Baltimore. They came by plane. John T. Woodward of Los Angeles, also with RCA Victor was at the funeral.
John T. McLamore lost his life while returning to his home at Hadden Field, New Jersey from a meeting with RCA executives in Washington, DC. Mr. McLamore's associates at the meeting went home by train, but he finally decided to come back in his plane, in spite of the soupy weather conditions. He crashed into a hill side, not far from the landing field, where he was attempting to come down. He was alone in the plane. The plane caught fire and burned. It was necessary to cremate the body.
Mr. McLamore's parents were the first settlers of Baylor County. After his mother's death, he continued to live with his father at Round Timber community with part of the time living at the home of his grandparents who lived there as well. He attended the Round Timber Community school until entering high school at Seymour in the 8th grade. After graduating from Seymour High Schoo, he graduated from Texas A&M College with a BA degree in electrical engineering.
For 27 years, Mr. McLamore had been with the RCA Victor Company. His specialty was radar engineering. He had become one of the most important men in the company and had done well in the matter of his own financial affairs. Mr. McLamore had high-security clearance with the US Defense Department and was involved with top secret plans.
For a number of years, John McLamore had been in Wichita Falls and Seymour for Christmas. He often visited in the home of his cousin, Mrs. J.W. "Madge [Plants]" McKee of New York.
