- Charles Ray Gibson, 81, of Hemphill, Texas passed away Thursday, September 6, 2018 in Hemphill Care Center.
Charles was born February 10, 1937 in San Augustine County, Texas to Amos Jefferson Gibson and Effie Mae Ray Gibson. He lived in the Buna/Kirbyville area before moving to Sabine County in 1979. He was a faithful member of Rosevine Pentecostal Church and an outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Charles is survived by his wife of almost 43 years, Lavina Hoffman Gibson; his son, Charles Edward "Cooter" Gibson and wife, Sherry, of Vidor, Texas; sister, Robbie Lou Ainsworth and husband, Harry, of Kirbyville, Texas; brothers, Thomas Gibson and wife, Janice, of Leesville, Louisiana, Marvin James Gibson of Victoria, Texas, and Larry Gibson and wife, Aileen, of Kirbyville, Texas; granddaughters, Jennifer Phillips and husband, Lamar, of Converse, Louisiana, Tessa Gibson of Conroe, Texas; and Tiffany Kaspar and husband, Zach, of Vidor, Texas; six great grandchildren; and eight very special nieces and nephews plus many more.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Amos and Effie May Gibson; sister, Evie Merle Ellis; wife, Myrtis Mabry Gibson, and great granddaughter, Rayleigh Kaspar.
Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Saturday, September 8, 2018 at Starr Funeral Home, 510 Starr St., Hemphill, Texas.
Funeral services for Charles will begin at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, September 9, 2018 at Rosevine Pentecostal Church, 8285 Gravel Hill Rd, Bronson, Texas with Bro. Gordon Simmons officiating.
Burial will follow services in Gravel Hill Cemetery, FM 1592, Hemphill, Texas under the direction of Starr Funeral Home.
