Notes |
- Dixie Huffman died Saturday, May 21, 1994 at her home in Hemphill, Texas. She was born at Tebo, Texas in San Augustine County on April 5, 1923. She was the fifth of six children born to Jesse Curtis and Mollie McKensey Flowers.
She attended Rosevine High School and married Jesse Jones Huffman, Jr. on August 16, 1942. They had two children, Jason and Ramona.
She was a member of Eastern Star for 42 years. As a charter member of Deer Park Chapter #063, she held many positions. When she and Jesse retired to Sabine County, she moved her membership to Hemphill Chapter #375. She devoted her life to volunteer work and was proud of being a Pink Lady.
In addition to her husband and children, she is survived by five grandchildren; a sister, Lucille Eberian of San Augustine and two brothers, Carl J. "Buck" Flowers of Johnson City and Jolly Flowers of Beaumont, as well as a host of other relatives and many, many friends.
She will always be remembered as a kind and gracious woman, a devoted wife and mother and a loyal friend. She had the knack of making everyone feel welcome.
