- Lester R. Jones, 85, of Beaumont, died Monday, September 3, 2012, at Baptist Hospitals of Southeast Texas, Beaumont. He was born on May 3, 1927, in Yellowpine, Texas, to Ruby Webb Jones and Amos Jones, and had been a longtime resident of the area. Lester was a United States Army veteran having served in World War II, and was a retired truck driver with Southern Pacific. He was a past president with Teamsters Union. Lester is survived by his wife, Doris Jones; sons, Raymond Jones and his wife, Delores, of Lumberton; Dale Jones and Samuel Jones, both of Beaumont; grandchildren, Heather Little, Justin Jones, LeAnne Evans, Jessica Jones, Amanda McCarroll, and Victoria Jones; great-grandchil- dren, Tabatha Little and Aubrey Evans; sister, Christine Smith; brother, Raymond Jones; and numerous other loving family members. He is preceded in death by his parents; and sisters, Maxine and Catherine. A gathering of Mr. Jones' family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 5, 2012, at First Baptist Church, 17019 Highway 124, Fannett. His funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, September 6, 2012, at First Baptist Church, Fannett. A committal service for Mr. Jones will follow at 3:00 p.m., at Yellowpine Cemetery, Highway 87, Yellowpine, under the direction of Broussard's, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont.
