He was born in Washington, GA on 21 Apr 1894, and had served for three years in the Texas National Guard. He was described as of medium heighth and build, with gray eyes and light colored hair.
In 1930, Gus M. Rhodes, age 36 born in Georgia, was living in Wichita Falls, Texas and working as a Rig Builder in the Petroleum industry. He was listed with (first wife?) Ludie M. Rhodes, also age 36 and born in Louisiana, along with two children, Leona, age 11 and Ben, age 9. Gus and Ludie appear to have divorced, as she can be found on FindAGrave as Ludie M. Rhodes, 1893-1986, buried at the Woodlawn Cemetery in Timpson, Shelby County, Texas. (Find A Grave Memorial# 20394424). Links to her at Ancestry.com show her maiden name to have been McFadden, but this has not been verified.
