William M. "Billy" Thompson, 85, of Lexington died Tuesday, February 12, 2013, at Huntsville Hospital.
Visitation will be Thursday, February 14, 2013, from 6-8 PM at Elkins East Chapel. Funeral services will be at 1 PM Friday, February 15, 2013, at Elkins East Chapel with Bro. Wendell White and Bro. Jimmy Grisham officiating. Burial will be at Springfield Cemetery.
Mr. Thompson served in the US Navy during WWII. He was a retired pipefitter and was a member of Local #377 and a member of Nebo Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents JM "Mac" and Ollie Thompson; brothers Orbie and Orville Thompson; and sister, Frances Bergin.
Billy is survived by his wife Nellarene Thompson; daughter, Debbie Simpson (Derrick); sons, Terry Thompson (Jane) and Billy Don Thompson; brother, A.L. "Heavy" Thompson (Stella); grandchildren, Blake Thompson and Isabella Thompson.
Pallbearers will be Jimmy White, Jackie Tate, Mickey Thompson, Phillip Haynes, Jimmy McMasters, and Ronald Dale Hill. Honorary pallbearers will be David White, Bobby McGuire, William Howard, and Bobby Gene Butler.
The family would like to thank Dr. Wampler, Dr. Little, Dr. Mokulis, and staff at the VA Clinic.
