- Joseph married Manerva and had at least 6 children in the Parish. All records for this family are in the name Maxey (Casagranda, 1850 Census, 71). Some researchers show his wife as Minerva ROBERTS. She was listed as Minerva at the time of the 1870 and 1880 census. The Louisiana Death Certificate for son George Washington Maxey instead listed his mother as Alice ROBERTS, likely her middle name? Their eldest daughter was also named Alice, possibly a namesake, or it might be that the names were simply being conflated on the death certificate of their youngest son, George.
