Henry Liem was born in Hamburg, Germany. He came to the US in 1877, and in 1878 he moved to Milam, Sabine Co, TX, and lived there until moving to Center in 1896. He was postmaster of Center from 1904 to 1910. Mr. Liem died at his home in Center, TX. Funeral services were under the auspices of Sam Samford Lodge, A.F. & A.M., with Rev. Melvin Menges, Christian Church, conducting religious services. Survivors included his wife; 8 children: Carl, Dan and Edward Liem and Mrs. Cooper Chesnutt and Miss Opal Liem, all of Center; Willie Liem of Buna; and Laurie Liem of Lake Charles, LA; 1 sister in IL; and 2 half-brothers in Germany.
