- "Received a Land Grant from the Republic of Texas." (White and Toole, p 52). White and Toole also show he was born in Georgia. However, he is shown as born in Kentucky on the 1850 census. Larry Sidebottom also shows his location of birth as in Kentucky--Hart, Kentucky.
His FindAGrave memorial page, created by Ray and Peggy Holbrooks Pace, notes that he was the second person, and first of his family, to be buried in the McGown Cemetery. They also noted that he was a Sabine County Justice of the Peace during the Republic of Texas.
