  Notes	Excerpt of article, transcribed by Ralph Marshall, about Junius Marshall: To Alexander and Elizabeth Marshall were born twelve children, only four of whom are now living: Edwin, Jane, Emily and Junius S. The last named was born in Breckinridge County April 18, 1834. He was educated in the common schools of the country, which he attended at intervals until his twenty-first year, but by far the greater part of his education has been obtained in later life, as he has always been a ready and practical observer. He took charge of the home place after reaching his majority, looking after his parents' interests in the meantime, and in 1862 purchased the farm of his father, and since resided upon the same. Mr. Marshall's home, which is one of the best in the vicinity of Hardinsburg, consists of 350 acres of good land, one mile and a half south of town, on the Hartford road, and is well improved and under succesful cultivation. Mr. Marshall has been a very successful farmer, and is in every respect a true type of the quiet, law abiding, country gentleman. He married, July 22, 1863, Artemissa, daughter of Robert and Nancy (Scott) Payne. Mrs. Marshall was born in Breckinridge County on December 18, 1844. Mr. and Mrs. Marshall are the parents of the following children: Nannie, Lizzie, Lucy (deceased), Thomas E., Emily F. (deceased), Willie, Samuel, Humphrey, Robert A., Mary, and Idah. Mr. Marshall is a Democrat in politics; belongs to the Masonic fraternity, and is an active member of the Methodist Church. He and his wife belong to the Oakland congregation.
