- MCLEMORE, GROVER CLEVELAND, JR. - age 89, passed away March 13, 2013, at Fort Sanders Hospital. A lifelong resident of South Knoxville, he was a retired printer having owned and operated McLemore Printing Company for 35 years. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Christine Myers McLemore; sister-in-law, Imogene McLemore; several nieces; nephews; and fellow outdoorsman, Worth Campbell.
Mr. McLemore was a member of Graystone Presbyterian Church and the Builders Sunday School Class and was formerly a member of New Prospect Presbyterian Church, where he served on session, sang in the church choir, and was a deacon and elder. He was an avid outdoorsman, fisherman, and enjoyed hiking in the Smokies.
He was a member of the U.S. Ninth Army in WWII, serving in England, France, and Germany. Mr. McLemore was the youngest son of the late Grover C. McLemore, Sr. and Carrie Harmon McLemore.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Foye McLemore, Ralph McLemore, Harmon McLemore, Clyde McLemore, and Robert McLemore. The family will receive friends at 5:30 p.m. at Berry Funeral Home, Chapman Highway. on Saturday, March 16th, followed by a funeral service at 7:00 p.m. Burial. with military honors. will be on Sunday, March 14th, at 2:00 p.m. in Monroe Cemetery, Maynardville, Rev. Ann Owens Brunger officiating. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Friends of The Smokies, P.O. Box 1660, Kodak, TN 37764, indicating the remembrance in Grover McLemore's name.
