Claude Joe "Bud" Strickland, 77, died Thursday afternoon in the Hemphill Care Center. He was born in Hemphill, Texas, to William "Bill" Riley and Eula Mae Humble Strickland. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1955 through 1957 and in the reserves through 1963. A resident of Hemphill he worked in construction as a project manager.
Mr. Strickland is survived by his wife Sandra Strickland, his sons; Joe Bryan Strickland and his wife Jeff of Hemphill, Mike Strickland and his wife Sonya of Hemphill, his daughters; Stacey Hamilton and her husband Joe of Hemphill, Dana Hansen and her husband Billy of Brookeland, his step-children; Theresa Havard and her husband Michael of Hudson, TX, Michael Hobbs and his wife Tonya of Central, TX, and Jimmy Hobbs and his wife Mindy of Grand Saline, TX. His grandchildren; Jeanie Mosley Mikeman, Michael and Jesse Strickland, Matthew and Robert Hamilton, Reagan Ozan and Tyler Hansen, Kaylee Havard, Logan and Emma Hobbs, Hunter, Brandon, Madelyn and Beaugh Hobbs, and nine great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters Faye Gibbs and her husband Elmo of Colmesneil, TX, and Johnnie Mae Seago of Beaumont.
He was preceded in death by his father Bill Strickland, mother Eula Mae Williams, Step-father Howard Williams, Step-mother Allie Morris Seago Strickland, sisters; Lucille Strickland, Billie Mae Warrick, Gladys "Sissy" Dykes, Nancy Eloise Adams, Laverne "Bunny" Duvall, step-brother Paul "Monkey" Seago, and grandson Jason Mosley.
Visitation will be from 5:00PM until 8:00PM, Friday, Feb. 22, 2013, in the Starr Funeral Home, 510 Starr St., Hemphill, Texas. Funeral services will be at 11:00AM, Saturday, Feb. 23, 2013, in the Starr Funeral Home Chapel. Cremation will be under the direction of Starr Funeral Home.
