He married Noretta Fenner, and they were the parents of John, Karen, and Ronald. As of the publication date of Art Peck's book, they were living in Marlette, Sanilac County, Michigan. Darling, age 81, of Marlette, life long area farmer, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, December 9, 2015 at Marlette Hospice Residence in Marlette, Michigan. He was born September 24, 1934 in Decker, son to the late Owen and Martha (Mark) Darling. He graduated from Marlette High School in 1952. He married Norretta Fenner October 14, 1961 in Port Huron. Mr. Darling was a member of N.R.A., Sanilac Farm Bureau, Black River Antique Power Club & Thumb Two Cylinder Club. Robert enjoyed collecting old tractors, reading and most of all, spending time with family and friends. He is survived by his wife Norretta of 54 years of marriage; Karen & Phil Rea (Daughter) of Northville, John & Debra Darling (Son) of Snover, Ronald & Amy Darling (Son) of Snover, Gerald & Sue Darling (Brother) of Florida, Fred & Pat Darling (Brother) of Marlette, Jim & Violet Darling (Brother) of Filion, Norma Cryderman (Sister) of Waterford, 6 Grandchildren, Christian, Meaghan, Easton, Kaitlyn, Grace and Jeremy. He was preceded in death by his parents Owen & Martha Darling, brothers Don & Mark Darling and sister Mary Geister. Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 12, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. at Marsh Funeral Chapel in Marlette, with Rev. Dave Coleman officiating. Burial will be in the Marlette Cemetery. Donations may given to United Hospice Service, 2770 Main, P.O. Box 307, Marlette,MI. 48453. Visitation will be held on Friday 2pm to 8pm and Saturday 10am to 11am at Marsh Funeral Chapel in Marlette.

  	The 1941 issue of the Striffler-Benkelman Broadcast showed that Mr. and Mrs. Owen Darling of Brown City observed their 25th anniversary Apr. 19, 1941. The STRIFFLER-BENKELMAN BROADCAST, Volume 26, September 5, 1966, reported that they were honored at a reception at the home of their son Jim in celebration of their Fiftieth Wedding Anniversary. Their eight children and families planned the celebration.
