  Notes	From the biography of his son, Edwin J. Martin "Norman Martin had previously married Anne Morrison, who bore seven children and who died in Georgia. Of the children of the first marriage three are living. Mr. Martin came from Georgia to Mississippi about 1830 and located in Clarke county, where he became a succesful planter and stock-grower, owning a large amount of land and about one hundred slaves prior to the Civil war."
