- Ancestry.com shows that he was a Confederate Soldier, serving with the 28 (Gray's) Louisiana Infantry, Compnay H, Private, Film #M378, roll 1. His enlistment date was 1862. His widow, Susan Anderson, applied for a Confederate Pension in Louisiana. Roll #T288-8.
Speights says that the family can be traced "back to an early American who came to North Carolina from Gottsburg, Sweden in 1772, drifted to Mississippi....in the 1850's the Andersons, along with their relatives, the Coopers, the Brents, Deans and Bosticks, set out for Texas." (Speights, Old Timers of Sabine County, Texas, p. 65).
