On the "Kent Family Tree" a public tree on Ancestry.com, he is shown as being born 25 Dec 1804 in Marlboro, to Lewis Conner II and Margaret McLaurin.
In the book, "Glimpses of Newton County History," it was noted that minutes of an early meeting of the county court showed that transportation in the new county was of the highest priority. A Petition for the road leading "from Hadden's Ferry to Zavalla be granted, and that Col. Joseph Thompson, Sr., Sterling McGraw, Joseph B. Colville, Lewis CONNER, and W. H. Mattox be appointed reviewers to review said road the nearest and most practible route by way of John L. Trotti's to Zavalla."
