A funeral service for Mrs. Lerene Halbert Green, 90, of Lufkin, Texas, formerly of Nacogdoches was held on Thursday, January 27, 2011, at 2:00 pm at Laird Funeral Home with Rev. Dock Lazarine officiating. Burial was at Black Jack Cemetery.
Mrs. Green was born on November 5, 1920, in Bronson, Texas to the late Willie Chester and Frances Myrtle Conn Halbert. She passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 25, 2011, in Lufkin, Texas. Lerene is survived by three sons, Dale Green and wife, Michelle of Lufkin; Keith Green and wife, Donna of Lufkin and Gary Green and wife, Sharon of Forney, Texas; a daughter, Sharon Green, of Houston; she is also survived by nine grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren; a brother, Dr. John T. Halbert and wife, Wilma Dell of Beaumont; a sister-in-law, Norma Halbert Hargis of Nacogdoches and lifelong friend, Virginia Langford of Euless, Texas as well as a host of other extended family and good friends.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Lamar Green and a brother, Loron Chester Halbert. Pallbearers were Ken Green, Ken Langford, Clark Green, Steve Green, Dr. Dean Halbert and Scott Green. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Blackjack Cemetery Association, 217 CR 350, Nacogdoches, TX 75961.
