- Myrtle Hyden, 86, of Scrappin Valley, died Friday night in her home. She was born in Yellowpine, Texas, to Dossy Levi and Ethal Evelyn Williams Hopson. Mrs. Hyden has lived in Scrappin Valley all her life and was a full time mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great great grandmother.
Mrs. Hyden is survived by her sons; Jerry Hyden and his wife Lassie of Jourdanton, TX, James "Bo" Hyden of Town Bluff, TX, William Hyden and his wife Bonnie of Scrappin Valley, Roger Hyden and his wife Frankie of Scrappin Valley, her daughters; Victory Lemoine and her husband Robert of Scrappin Valley, Martha Lakey and her husband Burton of Brookeland, Lydia White and her husband Roy "Skeeter" of Scrappin Valley, Crystal Farmer and her husband Aaron of Many, LA, her brother Ellis Hopson of Jasper, her sisters; Maxine Young of Jasper, Lavon Teague of Splendora, Evelyn Bridgers of Oklahoma, thirty-two grandchildren, and numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5:00PM until 9:00PM, Sunday, May 4, 2014, in the Starr Funeral Home, 510 Starr St, Hemphill, Texas. Funeral services will be at 10:00AM, Monday, May 5, 2014, in the Starr Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Smith-Mason Cemetery, Scrappin Valley, Texas [Actually in Sabine County, on Sandy Creek near Scrappin Valley on old Sabinetown-Brookland Road.
