My name is Daniel Chance, I live in Orange Tx.
I had a great grandfather named Stephen born about the time you indicate in Sabine Parish Lousiana (Nacotoches) to Eli and Elizabeth Allen Chance. His first marriage was to Melinda Eaves {my leinage} second marriage to Martha A. Whiddon.. These marriages occured in Shelby County Tx.best I can tell or possibly San Augustine Co..
If this is your Stephen he is buried in Rather cemetary in old Hurst Town Shelby County..
I did not know of a middle name.. He had approx 8 to 10 children by Melinda nad I do not know how many by Martha but met a fellow from Silsbee a few years back who was his decendant from 2nd marriage./. He had a daughter that was suppose to contact me but never did..She lived in Nederland I think..
I have been reading a book about the Allen family who settled a lot of Texas I find also.. They were from Virginia originally..
Chance settled originally in colony of Maryland in 1668 from England.. Please acknowlege if this fits any of your information..
My Grandfather was named Daniel from the first marriage..
I hgave a few zerox page from Stephens bible..Thanks Daniel..
