Jane Pate Rawson, 87, of Orange passed away at her home Saturday, January 28, 2012. Funeral Services will be at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 31, 2012 at Claybar Funeral Home Chapel in Orange. Officiating will be Reverend Randy Branch of Wesley United Methodist Church in Orange. A graveside service will be at 2:00 p.m. at Isaac Lowe Cemetery in Hemphill. Visitation will be from 6 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home on Monday, January 30, 2012. She was born October 26, 1924 in Hemphill to Oscar Perry and Vera (Bennett) Pate. She was a teacher for over 42 years, having begun her career at age 19 in Hemphill and teaching at Little Cypress for over 30 years. Mrs. Rawson was a member of First United Methodist Church in Hemphill, the Woman's Club of Orange, Delta Kappa Gamma, Alpha Delta Kappa and the Eastern Star for over 50 years. She is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Glenn Pate and Harold Pate and sister, Pauline Podhaiski. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Francis Rawson of Orange; daughter and son-in-law, Fran and Larry Hulsey of Orange; son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Warren Rawson and Patty DeLaney of Houston; five grandchildren, Karen Fisher and husband, Kyle of Mauriceville, Daniel Hulsey of Orange, Dr. Darrin Hulsey of Knoxville, TN, David Hulsey and wife, Tammy of Orange, Oscar DeLaney Rawson of Houston; seven great grandchildren, Morgan and Maggie Fisher of Mauriceville, Brynne Hulsey of Bridge City, Theron, Trevor, Taylor and Dayla Hulsey Orange and numerous nieces and nephews who were very special. Serving as pallbearers will be David Hulsey, Darrin Hulsey, Daniel Hulsey, Taylor Hulsey, Theron Hulsey, Trevor Hulsey and Kyle Fisher. Oscar DeLaney Rawson will serve as an honorary pallbearer. The family would like to thank Dr. Castellanos and staff, Gordon and Parker LLP and staff, Odyssey Health Care, Advantage Plus Home, Home Instead Senior Care and Kandi and Carol who were her caregivers. The family requests that donations be made to the scholarship fund of Delta Kappa Gamma Theta Psi Chapter, 6415 Steeple Chase, Orange, TX 77632.
