Obituary, from FindAGrave:
States the L. N. (Poley) Crawford, on of the most beloved of the pioneer settlers of this section, died at 12:00 Friday at the home of his son L.N. Crawford Jr., several miles east of Logansport.
He would have celebrated his 87'th birthday on Sunday, Feb. 2.
On Jan. 10, Mr. Crawford received serious burns when the cushion in his chair caught fire as he lighted his pipe. He attempted to smother the flames before he called for aid and was burned so severely that he never recovered.
He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. F.E. Bandy of Mooringsport; four sons, L.N. Crawford of Logansport, H.V. of Cayuga Texas Earl of Grand Bayou Louisiana, and C.M. of Dallas Texas 22 grandchildren, and several great grandchildren, four brothers, Sam, Charlie, George, and Edd Crawford, all of Joaquin Texas. Mrs. H.H. Nelson of Shreveport is a neice and Dr. J.E. Crawford of Ruston is a nephew.
The remains are at the Caraway funeral home in Logansport and will be conveyed to Shelbyville Texas at 3 pm Saturday, where funeral services will be held at the Methodist Church, with Dr. W.C. Windham, a lifelong associate, affiliating. Rev. W.O. Lynch, pastor of the Logansport Methodist Church, will assist.
Interment will be made in the family plot in the Shelbyville Cemetary.
