Obituary
Curtis Russell
Curtis Audrey Russell, 81, of Milam died Sunday, June 25, 1995, at his residence.
He was born Aug. 27, 1913, in Milam as a son of the late Bertha (Hogam) and Guy Newton Russell. He left Milam in 1939 when he joined the U.S. Army. During World War II, he received five battle stars. After the war he went to Houston where he was a loyal employee of Swift & Company for 31 years before his retirement. In 1977, he returned to the red hills of Milam to farm the land he loved.
Survivors: wife of 49 years, Syble Halbert Russell of Milam. two sons and daughters-in-law, Jerry and Linda Russell and Randy and Christa Russell, all of Houston; and three grandchildren, Kevin Russell, Tyler Russell, and Brooke Russell, all of Houston.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the chapel of Starr Funeral Home Inc in Hemphill with Bro. Robert Shaddock and Bro. John C Dowden officiating. Interment followed at the Joel Halbert Cemetery near Milam.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Hospice of the Pines at 116 S. Raguet, Lufkin, TX 75904.
