- Services for Rosalie Octava Burns, 97, of Broaddus, were held at 1 p.m. Thursday, April 21, 2016, in Wyman Roberts Funeral Home with Arthur Moody officiating. Interment followed in the Broaddus Cemetery.
Mrs. Burns was born January 9, 1919, in Broaddus, Texas, the daughter of Mary Ann (Mundine) and Sam C. Beard. She passed away Monday, April 18, 2016, at her residence in Broaddus. Mrs. Burns was a loving mother and grandmother. She was retired as a Home Center Manager for a grocery/drygoods store. Mrs. Burns was a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include her son, Allen Neil and wife Billie of LaGrange; daughter, Glenda Minniece and husband John of Houston; grandchildren, Jimmy Akin, Patrick Akin and wife Glenna, Jennifer Akin and husband Russell Coonfield, Brent Burns, and Catherine Burns and husband Jim Riviera; great-grandchildren, Raul Hinojosa, Alyssa Calhoun and husband Jacob, Parker and Garrett Akin, Ronin Coonfield, Rachel Burns, and Jordan Burns; sisters-in-law, Peggy Squires Beard of Houston and Juanice Harvey Beard of Broaddus.
In addition to her parents, seven brothers and three sisters, Mrs. Burns was preceded in death by her husband, Allen Andrew Burns; daughter, Susan Burns Akin; great-granddaughter, Lindsey Hope Burns; granddaughters-in-law, Renee Akin and Barbara Burns. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to Hospice in the Pines or the Broaddus Volunteer Fire Department. Funeral services under the direction of Wyman Roberts Funeral Home, P.O. Box 618, San Augustine, Texas 75972.
