At the time of the 1920 census, he was living in San Augustine, Texas, in the household immediatley following those of his elder brothers Jim and Sam. He and Bertha were shown as the parents of daughters Verdey (8), Thelma (4) and Belma (1 6/12). His Texas Death Certificate, viewable online at FamilySearch.org, Texs Deaths, 1890-1976, shows that he a son of Ben A. Beard and Ellen Chitman.
