- Diane Eiland shows that he married a woman named Bertha, and that they were the parents of four children, Verdry, Thelma, Belma and Dorsey D. Beard. At the time of the 1920 census, he was living in San Augustine, Texas, in the household immediatley following those of his elder brothers Jim and Sam. He and Bertha were shown as the parents of daughters Verdey (8), Thelma (4) and Belma (1 6/12).
His Texas Death Certificate, viewable online at FamilySearch.org, Texs Deaths, 1890-1976, shows that he a son of Ben A. Beard and Ellen Chitman. His usual occupation was shown as retired from the Cotton Belt R. R., and he was shown as married and a resident of Broaddus, Texas. The informant was Darrekk Beard.
