Bobbiline McLemore went to be with her Savior and Lord on June 29, 2012, at the age of 81. A long time resident of the Springhill Community in Jasper County, Texas, she was born Bobbiline Marshall in San Augustine County on May 10, 1931. Her family moved to Jasper County in 1936. Mrs. McLemore graduated from Jasper High School in 1948 and married Bobbie McLemore, also of Jasper County, in August 1950. They lived at various locations in Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, Michigan, and Maryland, but spent most of their life in Tioga, Louisiana, and retired to Jasper County in 1987.
Mrs. McLemore lived a very full life where church, music, and family played the most prominent roles. She was the pianist for the Jasper County Quartet who sang on the radio in the 1940's when KTXJ first started operation. She was a church pianist for most of her life and played Southern Gospel music at singing conventions all over the mid-Atlantic, southern, and southwestern United States. She and her husband enjoyed traveling to singing conventions and made many close friends among Southern Gospel singers across the country. They also traveled all over North America in their travel trailer, visiting areas from Alaska to the Florida Keys and from Newfoundland, Canada, to southern California. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Mrs. McLemore is survived by her husband, Bobbie McLemore of Jasper; three sisters, Helen Cryer of Jasper, Nova D Dubose of Jasper, and LeVee Ohman of Taylor; sisters-in-law Letha McLemore of Nederland and Jean McLemore of Bartlett, Tennessee; brother-in-law John D. McLemore of Kemp; son and daughter-in-law, Kent and Kathy McLemore of Cypress, daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Terry Lofton of Ruston, Louisiana; grandchildren Philip and Jennifer McLemore of San Antonio, Janna and Matthew Young of Maryville, Tennessee, Rachel and Cole Markham of College Station, Jennifer Lofton of Katy, Emily McLemore of Brenham, Michelle and Chad Pourchot of Santa Fe, and Pamela Jones of Hitchcock; ten great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents Dan & Emma Marshall & sister Bernice Byerly Martindale. The family asks that in lieu of flowers donations be sent to the Texas School of Southern Gospel Music, 2620 Silver Falls Drive, Kingwood, Texas 75110. Services are under the direction of Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home, Jasper.
