Ira Bell Drawhorn, 91, passed away in the Nacogdoches Memorial Hospital after an illness. He was born in Sexton, TX, to Ira and Rosa Meeks Drawhorn and has lived in Sabine and San Augustine Counties all his life. Ira was a carpenter and farmer leaving school at an early age to farm and support his family.
Mr. Drawhorn is survived by six daughters: Naomi Sharpton and Glenda Walker both of Bronson, Dorthy Woodruff of Houston, B.Gail Drawhorn of Bronson, Evely Weeks of Jasper, and Juanita Ward of Bronson; sister Juanita Cortright of San Antonio and sister Dorothy Cindric of Canton, Ohio, one brother Joe Parker of Houston, thirteen grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Audrey L. Drawhorn; daughter,Rosa Louise; brothers, Curtis Leroy "Buck" Drawhorn and Donnie Drawhorn; and sister, Eva Drawhorn Springer.
A celebration of life was held at 11:00 am, Saturday, Jan. 15, 2011, in the Starr Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed in the Drawhorn Family Cemetery in the Chinquapin Community.
Pallbearers were Joshua Brown, David J. Brown, Joey Brown, Stephen Brown, R.W. Walker, Matthew Drawhorn, Benjamin Drawhorn, and Manuel Rodriguez.
