Jay and Emily Smith
Bryan Jay Smith Sr., 96, of Hemphill, died early Thursday June 8, 1995, at Hemphill Care Center. His wife, Emily Edgar Smith, died early Friday, June 9, 1995, at Hemphill Care Center.
Mr. Smith was born Jan. 5, 1899, in Wiergate as a son of the late Ester Ann (Miller) and Daniel Vinson Smith and had lived in Sabine County several years. Mrs. Smith was born July 31, 1901, as a daughter of the late Paynie Jackie (Gooch) and James Valentine Edgar, and was a lifelong resident of Sabine County.
He is survived by a son, B. J. Smith Jr. of Hillster, and she is survived by a sister, Florence McBride of Hemphill.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the chapel of Starr Funeral Home Inc. in Hemphill with Bro. W. Clarence Howell officiating. Mr. Smith was buried at Fairmount Cemetery in Fairmount and Mrs. Smith was buried at the Hemphill City Cemetery.
